When family comes to town to visit for the holidays, after a few hours of chatting and a great meal, we often find ourselves in a rut: what do we do now?
Old board games can only be played so many times before they become “bored” games. You have an Apple TV and an iPad, so why not put them to use. We’ve found an app that uses the iPhone and iPad’s advanced technology to bring laughs to your living room.
Using an iOS powered device and a 2nd generation or later Apple TV, SketchParty TV turns your living room into an impromptu game of Pictionary, for everyone present to partake of and enjoy.
In essence, after pairing your devices, an iOS device provides a digital canvas for the player to draw on, while the television screen displays your sketches so everyone in the room can view them and attempt to guess the word.
Two ways to use SketchParty TV on your Apple TV
For 2nd and 3rd generation Apple TV units, you’ll need to mirror your iOS device to your TV. To do that…
Open Control Center (swipe up from the bottom of the screen)
Tap the AirPlay button.
Select your Apple TV
Slide the switch next to “Mirror” to the On position.
For those who own the latest, 4th generation Apple TV, simply download the SketchParty TV companion app from Apple TV’s App Store. Launch the app on your iOS device and Apple TV dichotomously, and the latter will handle the rest on its own.
SketchParty TV is currently priced at $5.99 for the premium version, which allows you to create lists of your own words. There is also a more limited trial version for free, should you wish to try it before you buy it.
