Microsoft is now officially embracing the cloud by offering support in Office for most major cloud services. Microsoft is updating its Office for iOS application with support for Apple’s iCloud. This new update on Microsoft apps will allow iPhone and iPad users to open, edit, and save documents to iCloud without needing an Office subscription or using Microsoft’s own cloud storage, OneDrive.

In November Microsoft added support for Dropbox in a similar manner, however using the iCloud is a little more difficult to use.  In the “places” section of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for iOS you cannot add iCloud. You must access iCloud documents from the “more” section. This process is slightly complicated and it makes it harder to create and store documents in the iCloud. Overall, this feature is a basic addition but should please those who use iCloud on regular basis.
