A limited-edition accessory that Apple released last year is making a comeback as part of Apple’s 2026 AI accessibility features — and it now appears to be part of Apple’s global accessory lineup.

In November, we shared the news of the Hikawa Phone Grip & Stand, a unique accessory from LA-based artist and industrial designerBailey Hikawa to celebrate 40 years of accessibility at Apple. Designed to make it easier for individuals with disabilities that impact motor skills, muscular strength, grip tension, or grip stability to hold onto an iPhone, the grip attached via MagSafe, making it readily compatible with virtually any iPhone. While the Hikawa grip could attach directly to the MagSafe ring on an iPhone 12 or newer model, it also worked well with any of the numerous magnetic cases available for non-MagSafe iPhones.

The original Hikawa grip sold from the Apple Store for $69.95 and came in Crater or Chartreuse, but it turned out to be incredibly popular; supplies sold out in less than a week. Bailey Hikawa continued to offer them directly from her boutique website, along with several other variations, but in the kind of very limited quantities typical of the handcrafted design. Plus, while international shipping was available, that added even more to the cost for folks outside of the US.

Thankfully, Apple has some good news for those who missed out on the first round. Thanks to a collaboration with PopSockets, Hikawa has begun mass producing her eponymous Grip & Stand, which will be sold in Apple Stores around the world.

What’s more, the new mainstream version now comes in three different colors — Glow Blue, Orange Swirl, and Speckled Stone — and sells for only $54.95.

“Apple’s accessibility work — which involves including disability communities from the very earliest stages of design to make the best possible product for everyone — has been the driving force of this project,” said Hikawa. “Our studio is built around intuitive, delightful accessories for iPhone, and it’s been a great privilege to create a product that embraces iPhone as an assistive device and pays tribute to accessibility.”

As with the original, the new Hikawa Grip & Stand features a soft-touch feel made from premium silicone, and not only provides several comfortable and accessible ways to hold an iPhone, but can also prop the iPhone up in either landscape or portrait orientations.

While the Hikawa Grip & Stand is available to order from the Apple Store, shipping times are still a few weeks out. It’s also not clear how much inventory Apple plans to have on hand, although the involvement of PopSockets suggests this won’t dry up nearly as quickly as the original; Apple’s product page shows it as “Designed by Bailey Hikawa, Developed and Produced by PopSockets.”

As part of the accessory’s return, Apple has also announced a Today at Apple session where Bailey Hikawa will be joined by author Shane Burcaw and actor Alex Barone to “discuss the role of iPhone as a pivotal assistive technology, and how accessible design can create inclusive, delightful experiences for everyone.”
