This New iOS 18 Feature Will Be a Game Changer For All iPhone Users

Everyone has been talking about iOS 18 and what it will offer — at least according to rumors.
If the leaks we’ve gotten so far are accurate, iOS 18 will mark the moment when Apple decides to add generative artificial intelligence to your iPhone.
While that’s not a bad move at all, especially since every other big tech company is doing it, there’s one feature that stands out above the rest.
According to Bloomberg, iOS 18 is poised to bring at least one game-changing feature to your iPhone.
Apple’s AI Will Change the Game on iPhone

In one of his recent Power On newsletters, Mark Gurman reports that Apple is working on its own large language model (LLM). While Apple’s AI might not be as powerful as other options on the market, it will still have enough power to make your iPhone faster.
For instance, right now when you talk to Siri, you’ll get a pretty basic response that usually takes a few seconds to process. However, with iOS 18 and the iPhone 16, that might soon change.
Apple’s AI tools may be a bit less powerful and knowledgeable in some cases (the company could fill in the gaps by teaming up with Google and other AI providers), but the approach will make response times far quicker. And it will be easier for Apple to maintain privacy.Mark Gurman
So, while Apple is still a new player in the AI market, its own generative AI will pack enough of a punch to make your iPhone faster and more secure than ever.
Since the new AI tools will be handled on-device, your iPhone won’t have to send or receive any type of data over the internet, which means we should get faster response times. Not only that but since everything will be handled inside the iPhone, you won’t have to worry about privacy or security before writing a prompt.
Apple Can’t Handle AI Alone

Apple has been working hard on creating its own AI language models. Last year, the company bought DarwinAI, a Canadian company that focuses on improving AI systems.
During this time, the company has also been working on its own AI language to compete with Google and OpenAI. However, since the company hasn’t invested as much time and resources, it’s still behind the competition.
But that won’t stop Apple since there have been rumors that the company is in talks with Google and OpenAI so it can implement these languages into iOS 18.
While we don’t know exactly which company will partner with Apple, many reports have suggested that ChatGPT’s creators, OpenAI, will power iOS 18.
Will Older iPhones Be Able to Handle Apple’s New AI?
Many reports believe that Apple’s newest AI features will be exclusive to the new iPhone 16 lineup, which is expected to be released in September of this year.
That’s because the new A18 chip that Apple is rumored to feature in the iPhone 16 lineup will be the only one strong enough to handle the new on-device technology.
That said, the more likely scenario is that iOS 18 will feature basic AI features that older iPhones can handle and will still have some exclusive AI capabilities that only the iPhone 16 models will support.
Of course, this is pure speculation at the moment, so take it all with a grain of salt.
iOS 18 Is Closer Than You Think

The good news is that we won’t have to wait that long to learn what iOS 18 offers. While the final version of iOS 18 won’t be released until the end of the year, Apple is expected to show it off and release its first beta version during this year’s WWDC.
Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference is an event where the company takes time to showcase to both users and developers the new features that will be available in a few months. Alongside the event, Apple releases a beta version for all its biggest products, like the iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch.
This year will probably be no exception, and we’re expecting Apple to focus on iOS 18 and artificial intelligence during its keynote.
The best part is that we’re less than two weeks away from this year’s WWDC. Apple has already confirmed that the WWDC will be held from June 10 to 14, 2024. This event will be held online and we can all experience it from our homes.
Get Ready for AI on the iPhone
Apple likes to take its time to deliver a better product than the competition, and artificial intelligence seems to be no exception.
While the company took its time to develop its own AI language, it seems 2024 will be the year when Apple finally implements AI on the iPhone.
While this will bring many new and incredible features, it’ll also take some time to adjust to such a big change. Of course, that’s all speculation at this point, and all we can do right now is wait until Apple finally reveals iOS 18.
