A fiery wrong-way crash on a San Diego highway Thursday evening killed three people and left a fourth seriously injured, authorities said.

The crash occurred around 4:30 p.m. when an 18-year-old man driving a 2014 McLaren sports car collided into a Hyundai SUV on Northbound Interstate 805 near Sorrento Valley. The black McLaren was speeding at 100 miles per hour southbound in a northbound lane, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported.

Three people were killed in the collision, including a 12-year-old girl and her 43-year-old mother that were killed when the impact caused a fire that engulfed the SUV, the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office said.

The driver of the McLaren also died in the crash. The Medical Examiner’s Office said he suffered blunt force trauma and was declared dead at the scene.

The crash caused a pileup that involved nearly a dozen vehicles in total and seriously injured one person, the California Highway Patrol said. Debris from the crash caused a traffic backup that lasted for several hours.

Fox 5 San Diego is also reporting that witnesses describe seeing a black sports car smashing into a gate at a nearby elementary school and speeding off about 30 minutes before the crash. Investigators are looking into whether the two incidents are connected.

Authorities have not released the names of those who died in the crash, pending the notification of their next of kin.

A number of people who claim to have known the driver of the McLaren are saying that it’s allegedly a prominent YouTuber known as McSkillet, who was known for his videos about online “skins” for the video game Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

McSkillet was known to live in the Southern California area and in December 2017, the YouTuber posted a video of his black McLaren sports car. The vehicle matches the description of the car involved in Thursday’s crash.

The YouTuber’s accounts have been inactive for months, however. Dextero reports that McSkillet had been banned for operating a “skin” gambling website.

A friend of McSkillet paid his condolences late Thursday night, stating on Twitter that the driver of the McLaren was, in fact, the famed YouTuber.
