According to Mark Gurman, Apple could unveil a new external display alongside the iPhone SE 3, the iPad Air, and the new Mac mini.

Gurman claims a new Apple-manufactured monitor has been ready for a few months and he suggests the company could preview this new product during the March 8 event. If this is true, “peek performance” makes a lot more sense.

Gurman also adds that he believes a new M2 or M1 Pro Mac mini is coming, as he is told Apple is testing these processors and that the computer is ready to go.

He doesn’t believe Apple will unveil an iMac Pro or Mac Pro now; there is work to be done in that field, and Apple will most likely wait until later this year to release them.

I do believe Apple will unveil the new Mac mini on March 8. I already told you back in 2021 that Apple planned to ramp up its production in December. It looks like I was spot on because I’m now hearing this device is ready to be shipped, and according to Gurman, Apple is apparently testing different aspects of it, so I believe this confirms that the Cupertino-based will indeed unveil the Mac mini tomorrow.

Gurman also claims Apple is testing the M2 chip. A lot of rumors point to an M2 13-inch MacBook Pro. As I have already mentioned other times, I have no idea about this device, but I won’t deny its existence just because my sources don’t know about it. We shall see.

What I know is that Apple ramped up the M2 MacBook Air production during the second week of January, and while I remain skeptical about Apple unveiling this new Mac on Tuesday, I have to say there is the chance it happens.

New Apple External Display

Let’s move on to the new Apple external display. Mark Gurman is a very reputable journalist and a fantastic Apple leaker, and I would say he is the best of all of us right now, although he does make mistakes sometimes.

While I haven’t recently heard anything that matches what Gurman says about this new monitor, his report makes perfect sense. One of my sources told me about a year ago that Apple was working on a new monitor to be released “in late 2022.” I didn’t give it a lot of thought back then since this source didn’t provide me with more details about it.

I can’t confirm that the monitor Gurman claims Apple could unveil on March 8 is the same as the one my source told me about, but it does look like it.

Considering that Gurman is a very reliable leaker, I’ll say I agree with him on this one. It all lines up. The only thing left to do is wait and see if we are right or wrong.

Talking about the display, 9to5Mac recently reported on a new monitor Apple was allegedly working on. The “Apple Studio Display.” 9to5Mac claims this new monitor would have a higher resolution than the Pro Display XDR. They say this would be a 7K display.

The report compares the Pro Display XDR, a 32-inch, 6K monitor with 218 pixels per inch, to this new monitor, which would allegedly have 245 pixels per inch. According to 9to5Mac, this device is internally known under the codename “J327”. This new monitor would be powered by the Apple A13 chip, and this is the same processor as the one in the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone SE 2. That’s a powerful display.

I’m pretty sure this will be an expensive panel, and I don’t expect it to cost less than $1,999. And it will probably be more than that.

Apple designs and manufactures fantastic displays, but they are expensive, so I don’t recommend people buy one unless they are professionals who need the best panel possible. Most of us will be okay with a much cheaper $299 monitor.

I hope you found this article helpful. Let me know in the comments below if you think Apple will unveil a new external display on March 8, if you would buy it, and why. As always, have a fantastic day!
