Spotify has just given the rest of its North American fans a nice Christmas bonus, expanding music videos to subscribers in the US and Canada.
The company announced the change yesterday, and while it still carries a “beta” label, subscribers to Spotify’s Premium tier should soon be able to enjoy at least a taste of the streaming company’s catalog of music videos.
Sadly, that’s a limited selection while the beta tag remains in place, but Spotify notes that it does include “artists like Ariana Grande, Olivia Dean, BABYMONSTER, Addison Rae, Tyler Childers, Natanael Cano, and Carín León.”
This expansion gives millions more listeners access to a catalog of official music videos, from studio versions to live performances and covers. The initial video catalog is limited for now while the feature is in beta, but stay tuned as availability will grow quickly over the coming months.

The expansion of the feature to North American shores comes nearly two years after Spotify first introduced music videos to the service. To be fair, that’s been a pretty slow rollout from the beginning, starting with a small catalog in only a handful of countries: Brazil, Colombia, Germany, Indonesia, Italy, Kenya, the Netherlands, Poland, the Philippines, Sweden, and the UK. Spotify added Egypt in May, and then added 85 more in October 2024, bringing the total to 97 — including Mexico. At that point, the US and Canada really began to feel left out of the party mix.
Still, that further expansion was inevitable, so we’ll file this one under “better late than never.” Spotify also helped pave the way for North American Apple fans to join in the fun when it released a significantly updated Apple TV app in October that finally brought video support — a similarly lengthy delay for a feature you’d expect to be fundamental to an app designed to run on the big screen. While music videos are a recent addition, Spotify has supported video podcasts on the iPhone and iPad since 2016. However, as we’ve often shared in the past, this is kind of how Spotify rolls in the Apple ecosystem. It took until 2018 for an Apple Watch app to arrive, and even a basic Apple TV app didn’t show up until 2019.
Music videos are slowly rolling out to premium subscribers in the US and Canada, but Spotify indicates that everyone should be able to see them by the end of the month. Once available, you’ll be able to find them by playing a supported track and choosing “Switch to video” to begin playing the music video right where the audio left off.
Subscribers can also go to Related Music Videos in the app to find additional content, including live and cover videos that aren’t directly tied to audio tracks, search for videos by genre and era, and browse a selection of video playlists.
