Didn’t Pre-Order a MacBook Neo? You Can Still Snag Your Favorite Color Today

Today marks the official launch date of Apple’s new entry-level MacBook Neo. Customers around the globe who pre-ordered the new laptop have already begun receiving deliveries of their new precious. Don’t worry if you didn’t pre-order, though, as you can still snag your preferred MacBook Neo in person; despite dwindling online availability, the affordable new MacBook is now available in all colors and configurations at Apple retail stores around the globe.
The MacBook Neo is joined by several other new products going on sale today, including the new iPhone 17e, M4 iPad Air, M5 MacBook Air, MacBook Pro with M5 Pro and M5 Max, plus a pair of new Studio Displays.
The MacBook Neo starts at $599, and is powered by the A18 Pro chip, which was first used in the iPhone 16 Pro in 2024. It’s the first Mac to be powered by an iPhone chip, but don’t let that scare you away; Apple says the A18 Pro delivers up to 50% better performance for everyday tasks than bestselling PCs powered by Intel’s latest Core Ultra 5 processor — and initial benchmarks back this up, indicating the MacBook Neo offers single-core performance that approaches Apple’s M4. It also helps that a 13-inch aluminum chassis offers better heat dissipation than a 6.3-inch iPhone.
The new Mac laptop boasts a 13-inch 2408 × 1506 resolution Liquid Retina display with 500 nits of brightness, and an anti-reflective coating. The 2.7 pound machine is available in four new colors — silver, indigo, blush, and citrus — with matching keyboard accents and wallpapers.
Connectivity is provided by two USB-C ports: one USB 2 port offering up to 480 Mbps and one USB 3 that can handle up to 10 Gbps, as well as an old-school headphone jack (so dust off those classic iPhone earbuds, folks). Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 6 round out the connectivity options. Also along for the ride are a 1080p camera, dual beamforming microphones, Spatial Audio speakers, and up to 16 hours of battery life.
8 GB of RAM is the lone memory option, although there are two SSD storage configurations: 256 GB with a standard Magic Keyboard for $599, and a 512 GB SSD option with Touch ID for $699. Both of these sell for $100 less with Apple’s educational discount.
Apple customers located in Europe, Asia, and other regions around the globe can now place an order in the Apple Store app or on the Apple website, for pickup in a local retail store.
At the time of this article, the UK Apple online store shows stock available for pickup in most stores in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and other locations. As for the United States, spot checks of stores in Los Angeles, Chicago, Indianapolis, and Nashville all show stock being available for pickup. However, there is no guarantee that stock will remain available and all sales are on a first-come, first-served basis.
Ordering a MacBook Neo for in-store pickup is simple. Select your Neo’s color, SSD size and keyboard options, AppleCare options, and indicate whether or not you have a trade-in, and click the “I’ll pick it up” option, enter your zip code, select from available store locations and select a pickup date. You’ll complete your purchase online and when showing up at the store, you’ll need your order number and a government-issued ID.
Alongside the MacBook Neo, the iPhone 17e, new M5 Pro/Max MacBook Pro models, M5 MacBook Air, M4 iPad Air, and two new Apple Studio Displays are also hitting stores today, with availability varying based on popularity.
