Nominations for the 77th Emmy Awards were announced this week, and Apple scored a record-breaking 81 Emmy Award nominations across 14 Apple Original titles on its Apple TV+ streaming service.
Unsurprisingly, Severance was the most-nominated series, with 27 nods. Rookie series The Studio received 23 nominations in total, marking the first time a freshman comedy series received that many nominations, beating out the record set by Ted Lasso in 2021 (which in turn had edged out Glee).
Apple also received best program nominations for drama (Slow Horses) and comedy (Shrinking), making it the only streaming service to have multiple shows nominated in the Outstanding Comedy and Drama Series categories. Apple also led the pack in the acting nominations, with 31 performance nominations in total.
“Everyone at Apple is celebrating the talent, creativity, and hard work of all of our Emmy nominees this morning,” said Zack Van Amburg, Apple’s head of Worldwide Video. “Severance and The Studio have exceeded our wildest expectations in earning the most nominations for both drama and comedy series, alongside the phenomenal Shrinking and Slow Horses. These shows have connected deeply with audiences around the world, and we’re incredibly appreciative to the Television Academy for recognizing the breadth of storytelling that has been an honor for us to champion. We send our warmest congratulations to all of today’s nominees.”

Shrinking
Apple’s well-received comedy Shrinking nabbed its first-ever nomination for Outstanding Comedy Series, and Harrison Ford received his first Emmy Award nomination for his performance as the grumpy yet lovable therapist. Jason Segel received a nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy, while Outstanding Supporting Actor and Actress nominations were bestowed upon Michael Urie and Jessica Williams, respectively.

Slow Horses
This writer’s personal favorite among Apple TV+ series, the darkly funny Slow Horses, also scored in several categories. Last year’s Emmy winner for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series tallied nominations for Outstanding Drama, Outstanding Lead Actor (Sir Gary Oldman), Outstanding Director (Adam Randall), Outstanding Casting, and Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series (Will Smith). If you haven’t yet watched Slow Horses, give it a try. Just sit back and enjoy Oldman, as he chews any nearby scenery. There’s a reason Apple has already renewed it for a seventh season.

Other Nominations
Other Apple TV+ Emmy-nominated series and films include Presumed Innocent, with 4 nominations, Disclaimer with 2 nods, Bad Sisters star Sharon Horgan for Lead Actress in a Drama Series, Dope Thief with one nom, The Gorge with two nominations, including Outstanding Television Movie, and several more.
Apple’s Emmy nominations weren’t limited to series and films, as it also received Outstanding Commercial nominations for two of its TV ads, “Heartstrings” (AirPods Pro) and “Flock” (Apple Privacy.)
