Apple’s gift card-based Black Friday offers on its products may not be the best deals going this month, but the company has one nice perk for anyone who’s been on the fence about subscribing to Apple TV — and you won’t have to wait until after the turkey is done to claim it.

Starting today, you can subscribe to Apple TV for $5.99 per month for your first six months. That works out to a savings of more than 50% off the regular $12.99 monthly price, which went up in August.

This Limited-Time Microsoft Office Deal Gets You Lifetime Access for Just $39

Sick and tired of subscriptions? Get a lifetime license for Microsoft Office Home and Business 2021 at a great price!

Unlike Apple’s free trials, this deal is available to both new and returning subscribers, so if you cancelled your subscription after you finished binging Slow Horses last month, you should be able to come back at the lower price — as long as your previous subscription has actually ended.

As with most such deals, Apple TV will renew at the full $12.99 price in the seventh month, but you can cancel it at any point before then to avoid being charged. More importantly, if you decide to stick around, that’s probably a good time to switch to an annual plan, as it’s a much better deal. The price increase earlier this year applied only to the monthly plan; Apple TV can still be purchased annually for $99.

That brings the monthly price down to $8.25, so this Black Friday offer is still the better deal, but Apple has priced its plans to encourage folks to stick around for the long haul.

This Black Friday deal also isn’t available if you’re already subscribed to an Apple One bundle, since Apple TV is included in all three tiers and can’t be broken out separately. However, depending on how you look at the package of services, Apple One may already be the better overall value, bundling Apple TV, Apple Music, Apple Arcade, and iCloud+ storage for as little as $19.95.

It’s a Great Time to Jump In

The best thing about the Apple TV Black Friday deal isn’t just the price, but also that it’s being offered during a season when Apple has some great content on the service.

Chief among these is the new sci-fi drama Pluribus, which explores a world where humanity begins to share a single consciousness and hails from Vince Gilligan, the creator of Breaking Bad. That’s a strong vote of confidence right there. It’s only airing its fourth episode today, and it’s already set a new record for the most popular new Apple TV drama series, logging 6.4 million hours of viewing time for its first two episodes the week it launched.

Earlier this month, Apple also announced its holiday programming slate, which includes fun for the whole family. Apple is leaning into its licensed franchises with The First Snow of Fraggle Rock, and you’ll be able to watch the Peanuts classics, A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving and A Charlie Brown Christmas at your leisure, along with all the new Charlie Brown and Snoopy specials, including For Auld Lang Syne, the first to be produced under the Apple banner in 2021.

Apple TV is also debuting The Family Plan 2, a sequel to its 2023 action-comedy flick starring Mark Wahlberg and Michelle Monaghan, plus its blockbuster, F1: The Movie, on December 12.

Since the promo runs for six months, it will also take you into early 2026, when the third season of Shrinking — the delightful comedy starring Harrison Ford and Jason Segel — is expected to arrive, along with the second season of Idris Elba’s thriller, Hijack.
