Following signs in December that Apple was laying the groundwork to bring golf to its Sports app, the new PGA and LPGA scores and states have now arrived just as the 2026 seasons get into full swing.

Apple officially announced the addition of golf to its lineup earlier today, rounding out its minimalist sports app with the one major sport that’s been missing until now.

Apple

Since its early 2024 launch, Apple Sports has set itself apart from the plethora of other sports tracking apps for the iPhone by focusing on an interface design that’s simple, uncluttered and, above all, fast. In fact, its play-by-play information can be so fast that it beats the game you’re watching on TV. The app has no ads or other distractions — just a clean interface that lets sports fans see the information they care about the most.

Apple Sports launched with a focus on traditional leagues like MLB, MLS, NBA, and NHL, later offering NCAA basketball, and NFL and college football to the mix. However, the presentation of baseball, hockey, and football team scores and stats differ significantly from other sports, and Apple was forced to rework the app when it added other genres like Formula 1, NASCAR, and tennis to the mix.

PGA and LPGA golf are yet another category that demands a unique presentation, which might explain why it’s taken a bit longer for these to arrive in Apple Sports. The new additions don’t just bolt on golf scores; Apple has carefully crafted a new design that lets fans track individual players with hole-by-hold results and individual scorecards. You’ll also find live leaderboards, and scores from every round of every tournament, letting you see where any pro’s standings at a glance.

There’s also full Live Activities support for in-progress tournaments, just like for other sports, once again presented in a card view that’s appropriate for tracking the progress of each player, plus Game Card Sharing so you can loop your friends in with rich score cards via iMessage or social media.

In addition to PGA and LPGA golf, this week’s release also adds support for popular European soccer federation cups DFB-Pokal, Coupe de France, Coppa Italia, and Copa del Rey, plus real-time stats for tennis matches — a smaller perk that was omitted from Apple’s newsroom announcement but is listed in the release notes.

There’s More to Come…

Not surprisingly, it look like Apple has even more in store for later this year. Not long after the latest Apple Sports 3.7 update dropped, the folks at MacRumors dug into the code and found evidence of six more leagues slated to arrive in the next update.

Backend code spotted by MacRumors reveals what’s next for Apple Sports in version 3.8. Apple is planning to add support for six South American soccer leagues, including Brazil Serie A, Argentina Primera A, Colombia Primera Liga, Ecuador Serie A, Peru Primera Division, and Chile Primera Division.

Apple Sports is available as a free download from the App Store in over 40 countries and regions around the world. It remains an iPhone-only app and requires iOS 17.2 or later, with iOS 18 and watchOS 11 required to access Live Activities.
