5 Apple Event Rumors That Actually Came True | Spring ’22

Apple provided many surprises during its Peek Performance event – we saw new products, new shows coming to Apple TV+, and a lot of talk about the future of the Mac computers. But with all the hype about the new products beforehand, we kind of already knew about all of them. Thanks to leaks, we basically know everything the company will release before it does. Unfortunately, not all the rumors were true – however, most rumors were spot on this time around! Continue reading to browse five Apple event rumors that actually came true.
Third-Generation iPhone SE
There have been a lot of rumors and speculation about the next iPhone SE and when it would come out. Fortunately for the people who love smaller iPhones, Apple didn't disappoint during its presentation.
Right at the beginning of Apple's keynote, Tim Cook introduced the new iPhone SE, a more affordable iPhone with the looks of an iPhone 8 and the power of an iPhone 13.
The biggest change for the iPhone SE was its processor. The new smaller iPhone features the A15 Bionic chip, the same chip the iPhone 13 lineup has. Additionally, the iPhone SE packs a more powerful 6-core CPU and a 4-core GPU to make the device faster and more powerful than anything in the market, at least according to Apple.
Not only that but thanks to the A15 chip, the camera on the iPhone SE is also improved. On the outside, the camera looks pretty much the same as the previous model, but Apple confirmed that this is basically a new camera system thanks to the A15 Bionic chip.
A New Apple Silicon Chip
Rumors were saying Apple would call this the M2 chip, which we already know wasn't the case. But to be fair, we did see a new Apple Silicon processor. Instead of an M2, Apple revealed a more powerful Apple Silicon processor called the M1 Ultra.
This small chip is said to be even more powerful than Apple's more powerful desktop, the Mac Pro. According to Apple, this beast of a chip will be the fastest processor in the market, and its performance per watt is said to beat the rest of the competition.
How did Apple manage to surpass the M1 Max chip this time around? Easy, the company basically slapped two M1 Max chips together. The M1 Ultra chip features two M1 Max chips that were put together to unite them into a single chip, creating a powerful single chip with a 20-core CPU, 64-core GPU, and 128GB of unified memory.
The result? A chip that's efficient, powerful, and nothing like we've ever seen Apple do before.
A Brand New Mac Studio

There were a lot of rumors about a new Mac, but it was still a huge surprise when Apple announced the Mac Studio during its event.
The Mac Studio is small, powerful, and a bit too expensive for most of us. But if you're a professional, you might find it to be at a pretty competitive level with what other computers have to offer.
At first glance, the Mac Studio might look like a Mac mini, but it's on the inside where the magic happens. The Mac Studio features the M1 Max or the M1 Ultra chip—depending on which model you choose.
This means that the Mac Studio's performance is on another level. Apple said that the GPU performance on the Mac Studio would be up to 3.4 times faster than the Mac Pro. The same goes with CPU performance, which Apple also confirmed to be 50% faster on the Mac Studio than on the Mac Pro.
Of course, that comes at a price. The Mac Studio with the M1 Max chip starts at $1,999. And if you want to get a Mac Studio with the M1 Ultra processor, you'll need at least $3,999. Sure, it's expensive, but keep in mind this isn't for average users like most of us.
A New Studio Display
The rumors about Apple launching a new display were recent, but they still were right since Apple did reveal a brand new, more affordable display. Alongside the new Mac Studio, Apple announced a new display that's more affordable than the current Mac Pro display and does come with its own stand: The Studio Display.
The new Studio display features a 27-inch 5K retina display, with 14.7 million pixels and 600 nits of brightness, making it one of the best-looking displays you can get for your Mac. It also has a 12MP Ultra Wide camera in the front. Alongside the awesome display, the Studio Display also has six speakers.
And since this display comes with an A13 chip, the camera supports Center Stage, Spatial Audio, and you can even use "Hey Siri" with it. The basic model starts at $1,599, but you can also change the stand to make it tilt and height-adjustable for $1,999.
The Return of the iPad Air
We all were expecting a new iPad Air to be announced during Apple's keynote, but it was still impressive. The new iPad Air is basically an iPad Pro mini at this point. This new iPad now features an M1 chip, just like the 2021 iPad Pro. This means that the new iPad Air took performance to the next level. According to Apple, it can now outperform the best-selling Windows laptop in the same price range.
Another big change is that the cellular model now supports 5G, a new feature coming to the iPad Air, and Apple wants to implement it across all its cellular devices. Apple also confirmed that the new iPad Air supports Center Stage, which will help you become the center of attention during all your FaceTime calls.
But the biggest news was the price. The 64GB iPad Air starts at $599. Sure it's still on the expensive side, but it's also more affordable than the current iPad Pro, which makes it an even better deal.
