A New Apple Silicon Chip
Rumors were saying Apple would call this the M2 chip, which we already know wasn’t the case. But to be fair, we did see a new Apple Silicon processor. Instead of an M2, Apple revealed a more powerful Apple Silicon processor called the M1 Ultra.
This small chip is said to be even more powerful than Apple’s more powerful desktop, the Mac Pro. According to Apple, this beast of a chip will be the fastest processor in the market, and its performance per watt is said to beat the rest of the competition.
How did Apple manage to surpass the M1 Max chip this time around? Easy, the company basically slapped two M1 Max chips together. The M1 Ultra chip features two M1 Max chips that were put together to unite them into a single chip, creating a powerful single chip with a 20-core CPU, 64-core GPU, and 128GB of unified memory.
The result? A chip that’s efficient, powerful, and nothing like we’ve ever seen Apple do before.
