How Embarrassing is Your Calculator History?

Are you prepared to be embarrassed? We all probably use our calculator a bit more than we need to. How often do you find yourself crunching simple numbers in the Calculator app rather than in your head? If you can’t remember, it’s ok.

The new Calculator app in iOS 18 saves a history of your mathematical ability (or inability). If you’re with a group of friends or family, forcing everyone to share their recent Calculator history may be a funny icebreaker. Perhaps this is the new way to draw straws. I’ll do the honors. Here’s how to check your Calculator app history — and how to clear it. Make sure everyone is updated to iOS 18.

To view your Calculator app history:

  1. Open the Calculator app.
  2. Tap the three-dot menu icon in the top-left of your screen.
  3. Tap and hold anywhere in the top row where it says “Previous 7 Days” and swipe up. This will expand your history to the full screen.

You can scroll through the history or tap any equation to reveal the answer as the latest entry in the calculator. To re-enter your history tab, tap the three-dot menu in the top-left again and repeat these steps.

120 ÷ 12 and 3.5 – 3.2? Maybe those were hard days. It happens to the best of us. If you want to forget those rough patches, tap Clear in the bottom right of the history tab. This will give you a fresh start and help you save face. All calculations will be deleted. Apple also reminds you deleting the history can’t be undone. Perfect!
