While Black Friday is always a great time to pick up an iPad or Mac, it’s also an opportunity to try out a new streaming service, or maybe even revisit an old one to catch up on the shows you’ve missed.

Nearly all the major streaming providers are offering some deep discounts for both new and returning members this week, with prices that could make it tempting to subscribe to a few.

Apple TV

First up is Apple’s own streaming service: Apple TV is available at $5.99 per month for the first six months, bringing it back down to its original launch price. You’ll go back to the standard $12.99 price after that, but this should give you plenty of time to make your way through the newest hit shows like Pluribus, The Studio, and even binge all five seasons of Slow Horses.

If you do decide to stick around after the initial six months are up, we’d recommend switching to a full year as it’s a much better deal. While Apple raised the monthly price of Apple TV to $12.99 early this year, it left the annual price unchanged, letting you subscribe for 12 months for $99, which works out to $8.25 per month. You may also be able to save even more by opting for an Apple One plan, which bundles Apple TV with Apple Music, Apple Arcade, and iCloud+ storage for as little as $19.95.

Apple’s Black Friday deal is available for new and returning customers, but you have to subscribe directly; you can’t already be subscribing through Apple One nor a third-party payment provider like your mobile carrier.

Disney+ and Hulu

If you’ve been on the fence about Disney’s streaming services, the House of Mouse has an even better offer this year: $4.99 per month for 12 months of both Disney+ and Hulu. That’s the ad-supported bundle, but it’s still over 61% off the normal $12.99 price.

Contrary to what the name suggests, there’s a lot more to Disney+ than Disney movies. The streaming service encompasses franchises such as Star Wars and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, plus National Geographic and 20th Century Fox content like The Simpsons.

Much of what Disney+ doesn’t have can be found on Hulu, which lets you access originals like The Handmaid’s Tale, classics like Gilmore Girls and Modern Family, and more recent hits like Alien: Earth and The Bear.

The Disney+ and Hulu Premium bundle, which removes the ads, is also 25% off right now, at only $14.99 per month for the first 12 months.

ESPN

You can also add ESPN to the mix of Disney+ and Hulu. While it’s quite a bit pricier, a Black Friday deal still shaves a few bucks off.

The ad-supported Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN bundle is going for $29.99 per month for your first year, down from $35.99. If you want to get rid of some of the ads, Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN Premium will set you back $38.99 per month for the first 12 months, after which it returns to the normal price of $44.99 per month (or whatever it will be by this time next year).

The Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN deals are available until December 1 to both new and returning subscribers.

HBO Max

In one of the best Black Friday deals of this or any other year in recent memory, HBO Max is available for only $2.99 per month for the first year. That’s for the basic plan with ads, but it’s still an incredible deal when you consider that it’s normally $10.99 following last month’s price hike.

HBO Max is well-known for its critically-acclaimed shows like Curb Your Enthusiasm, House of the Dragon, Succession, and The Last of Us. It also has an extensive movie catalog that includes quite a few new releases like Superman and A Minecraft Movie.

Sadly, there don’t appear to be any discounts on the Standard and Premium plans, which are still priced at their normal $18.49 and $22.99 levels, which makes them quite a bit harder to swallow compared to the $2.99 Basic with Ads plan promo, which will let you stream in full HD on up to two devices at once, although you can’t download shows for offline viewing.

Peacock

NBCUniversal’s Peacock streaming service isn’t offering any direct Black Friday deals. Although there is the recently-announced Apple TV-Peacock bundle that give you both services for $14.99, that’s not a special Black Friday price, and hard to justify when you can get Apple TV alone for only $5.99 for the next six months.

However, there is a back door deal that could get you a Peacock subscription for less if you’re a Walmart customer. The retail giant is offering its Walmart+ plans at 50% off an annual subscription for Black Friday, which gives you a number of Walmart perks plus free access to one ad-supported streaming service: either Peacock Premium or Paramount+ Essential.

Don’t be confused by the “Premium” designation here. Unlike most of its competitors, NBCUniversal has chosen to use “Premium” for the basic, ad-supported service, and “Premium Plus” for its ad-free version.

Paramount+

While you can get Paramount+ as part of the Walmart+ deal mentioned above, the streaming service has its own Black Friday offer, and it’s one of the more unusual of the lot, as it combines a good price with a very short term.

Specifically, Paramount+ will let you pick any of its plans for only $2.99 per month — but only for the first two months. This means you can get either Paramount+ Essential (normally $7.99) or Paramount+ Premium (normally $12.99) for only $2.99. After two months, those return to their normal prices. This shorter window is a common strategy for Paramount+, likely timed to get football fans hooked through the end of the NFL season and playoffs.

We’re not really sure why anyone would go for the lesser of these two, since Premium offers an ad-free experience, plus access to Showtime originals, CBS live, and the ability to download movies and shows. Even if you plan to stick with Paramount+ Essential for the third month, you can always downgrade later. Just make sure you click the Premium box, as it defaults to Essential.

It’s also worth noting that the Walmart+ offer mentioned above lets you switch your bundled streaming service every 90 days, so you could combine these deals to get both for the first two months, and decide which one you want to keep later.

Amazon Music, Audible, and Spotify

This year’s Black Friday deals aren’t confined to video streaming. Amazon Music, Audible, and Spotify all have their own promos running right now.

For example, Amazon Music Unlimited is offering three months of its streaming service for $0, while Spotify has the same $0 deal for four months — and it’s valid until December 31.

The catch is that both of these are officially only available to new customers, although we’ve seen emails from both trying to entice former subscribers to come back, so it’s worth checking it out even if you’ve used these services before.

Meanwhile, Amazon’s Audible is only $0.99 per month for the first three months, and includes a bonus $20 credit that can be used to purchase one or more audiobooks from the service. After three months, the price goes up to the standard $14.95 per month, but you can keep any audiobooks you’ve purchased with your credits, making it worth signing up even if you just want to save money on one or two books.
