We’ve seen just about every notable automobile manufacturer hop aboard the Apple CarPlay bandwagon in recent months. And therefore, whether you’re looking to upgrade on the cheap, or perhaps splurge the contents of your piggy bank on one of the more sophisticated, or higher-caliber autos, chances are there’s bound to be a CarPlay-compatible car out there for you!

Although, if for whatever reason you’re just not able to find something that suits your imminent needs, fortunately you’ll soon have another highly sought after, long-overdue, though nonetheless formidable choice when browsing about the car lot in search of your next set of wheels.

Earlier this week, world renowned luxury German automobile manufacturer, Bayerische Motor Works (BMW), announced that it’s launching CarPlay support as an upgrade option — beginning with a partial roll-out on its 2 Series cars in 2017.

What’s most surprising of all, though — perhaps given BMW’s long-standing dominance as a premium, luxury auto-maker, is that the upgrade to CarPlay compatibility is reasonably priced, at $300, through BMW.

It’s slated to roll out on various iterations of the company’s 2 series Coupe, Convertible, xDrive Coupe, and xDrive Convertible — specifically, the i230 and the M240i.

By the way, just in case you were curious, a CarPlay-compatible, 2017 BMW i230 Coupe will run you approximately $33,250; while the considerably more powerful M240i with CarPlay will retail for around $45,500.

While several reputable automobile manufacturers have been more apprehensive to adopt CarPlay than others, BMW (despite its conspicuous absence for the last few months) originally made the announcement that CarPlay would soon be coming to select vehicles later last year..

However, a plethora of unforeseeable setbacks, hardware/software compatibility issues, and more, ultimately prevented the wide scale launch that we think both BMW (and Apple) were hoping for.

Still, as the saying goes: “better late than never,” right?

Now that BMW has officially joined the CarPlay ‘par-tay’, and will likely continue expanding on its offerings as we move towards the future, that leaves only one, very large, Japanese-based automaker (cough, cough — Toyota!) left to sign on.

Of course, it’s not like we don’t already know about the drama going on over there, right?

What do you think about BMW’s modestly priced CarPlay upgrade coming to the 2 series? Let us know in the comments!
