Two new iPhone 15 rumors have surfaced claiming the upcoming iPhone 15 lineup will boast stacked battery technology as well as noticeably thinner screen bezels.

According to Twitter user RGcloudS, the iPhone 15 lineup may use a new type of stacked battery technology. This information came along for the ride as part of a leak about Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S24+ and S24 Ultra models, which will also allegedly make use of the new technology, which involves the battery components being stacked on top of each other. This results in a smaller and more tightly packaged battery with a higher energy density.

TechRadar notes that while the technology could result in longer battery life and smaller batteries, some engineering challenges persist, such as the increased heat likely to be generated by stacking the batteries inside of the iPhone.

However, a reduced battery size would also free up some space inside the iPhone, which could provide room for other components such as additional cooling mechanisms.

The RGcloudS account also says it has discovered indications that Apple is exploring 40W wired charging, as well as 20W MagSafe wireless charging. However, the leaker says they’re not sure if the technology will be ready for the iPhone 15 lineup or be delayed until next year’s release of the iPhone 16 models.

The RGcloudS account primarily releases leaks about Android devices, so the Twitter account doesn’t have much of a track record when it comes to Apple leaks.

In other iPhone 15-related rumors, a recently leaked image shows what is supposedly a collection of iPhone 15 screen glass and protectors. The photo appears to back up a previous rumor that Apple’s upcoming iPhone 15 lineup may feature thinner bezels.

In March, a leaker with the moniker of Ice Universe said the iPhone 15 Pro Max will “break the record,” for thin bezels on a smartphone. Currently, the thin bezels record is held by the Xiaomi 13 and its 1.81mm bezels. Ice Universe has a good record of making previously accurate predictions.

On Monday, Ice Universe posted a new tweet sharing an image of what the leaker says are the glass displays and third-party screen protectors intended for use on the iPhone 15 lineup.

The image shows eight screens, with the lower four being identified for use with the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Plus, and iPhone 15 Pro Max. All four models are expected to be unveiled by Apple later this year. The screens designated for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models have slimmer bezels in comparison to the variants in the top row.

Also, the screens marked as for the iPhone 15 lineup lack a notch, which backs up a 2022 rumor from industry display analyst Ross Young, who said the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max Dynamic Island feature would be used across the entire iPhone 15 lineup, removing the need for the iPhone’s traditional display notch at the top of the screen.

As with any Apple-related rumors, these two should be taken with a dash of your favorite sodium-free salt substitute. Nothing is set in stone until Apple debuts the new iPhone 15 lineup later this year.
