6 Surprise Devices Apple Should Release Fall 2019
Are you ready for Apple to surprise you? There are several new products that we expect Apple to announce this fall, including the new Apple Watch Series 5, the iPhone 11 in its various forms, a new MacBook model and the new Apple TV. But that could be just the beginning. There are a whole lot of other products Apple could make a surprise announcement about – something Apple likes to do at its fall events.
Which devices make good candidates for this surprise? What announcements would benefit Apple the most? We have a few ideas of what could (but likely won't) show up. Continue reading to learn about 6 Surprise Devices Apple Should Release Fall 2019.
Over-Ear "AirPods"
There are also a lot of signs that Apple is working on over-ear "AirPods", a version of AirPods designed with high-end audio in mind, perhaps even sound-editing tasks, (with a very high price to match). We know Apple's going to release these new headphones soon, but we're not sure exactly when. A surprise fall announcement would be very timely, though –
Apple has made a lot of profit off of its AirPods, and will be anxious to expand this part of its business with new products that will create more buzz. If these headphones are marketed to professionals and sound editors, it also makes sense to release them to complement the new MacBook Pros and Mac Pro.
AR Glasses
This would be particularly big news. There are many reports that Apple is working on augmented reality glasses (a bit like Microsoft's HoloLens, which has proven to be a big hit with the military and may be appearing in more consumer places too). However, there's no indication that Apple is anywhere close to a product launch yet, so the best guess for an AR glasses release is a few years away, which is why it would be so exciting to see them now. We really want to know what Apple is capable of here – AR apps are becoming increasingly popular on iPhones, and having actual glasses to support the future of AR is an exciting idea.
Apple Bluetooth Tracker
Apple's changing a lot about how you can track iOS devices and Friends, modifying its capabilities with Bluetooth pulses and other features that make these services more effective. That means it's also a perfect time to expand in this direction with an affordable Bluetooth tracker or similar device.
As with other trackers, it would probably take form as a small coin or tab-shaped device that you could easily attach to anything you want to track (your backpack, your bike, your child, etc.). Apple could add its unique style to the device, making it cooler to carry than competing devices. We hope to see this soon!
Less-Ambitious Apple Charging Pad
The AirPower charging pad has been officially canceled, as it just didn't work the way Apple wanted it to. It would be cool if Apple could loop around and use their research and investment to release a less ambitious charging pad for wireless charging compatible devices. Brand it with a different name, like AppleCharge or iPad (oh wait), and it could be a great way to get people excited for wireless charging all over again.
HomePod 2
All rumors point to Apple making a simpler, cheaper version of the HomePod that addresses some of the flaws in the first. However, there's no sign that Apple is ready to release another HomePod and no reports on what it might look like. This is exactly why it would be such a great surprise release! Apple is already focusing more on Apple TV, Apple streaming, and of course, its split-apart iTunes apps. A HomePod speaker compatible with these devices and apps would have great synergy.
Apple also needs to claim its share of the smart speaker market before it's too late. Smart assistant speakers have become trendy gifts around Christmas time, so Apple would be smart to release an improved HomePod early before the holidays begin.
Apple Car (We Can Dream, Right?)
Finally, if Apple really wants to amaze, they could announce a limited release of the Apple Car in a testing program available to consumers. This would be crazy. This would be wild. No one expects the Apple Car until after 2022. If Apple unveiled its car this fall, they would guarantee headlines (and probably a stock bump). It's fun to dream.
