4 True Tone ‘True Color’ Display
While the iPhone 8 is all but confirmed to receive the royal, edge-to-edge OLED treatment, the iPhone 7s line-up is expected to retain the same 4.7- and 5.5-inch LCD displays as their predecessors. However, worth noting is that the latter’s LCD panels are slated to receive a welcomed upgrade to True Tone display technology, according to a research note from Barclays. Per the note, a copy of which was shared with MacRumors earlier this year, the iPhone 7s devices will feature a “full spectral sensing ambient light sensor,” allowing them to omit what analysts dubbed “True Color.” The note goes on to cite that these sensors will be provided by Austrian semiconductor manufacturing firm, AMS, and will bring the color reproduction capabilities of the iPhone 7s’ displays in line with that of Apple’s recently-refreshed iPad Pro models.
