4 New Products Apple Could Finally Announce at WWDC21
Every year, Apple holds the Worldwide Developers Conference, or WWDC, to show off its upcoming software updates and help developers modernize and adapt their apps. This year is no exception, and on June 7, Apple will hold a keynote to kick off this event.
We already know most of what to expect from the Apple keynote – new software updates across all Apple devices, including iOS 15, macOS 12, and watchOS 8. On top of that, there are many rumors that suggest Apple might also announce a new product.
Although it isn't common, there have been times in the past when Apple used WWDC to reveal new hardware. Just a couple of years ago, Apple revealed the all-powerful, extra expensive Mac Pro. This year might be the same, and there are many products that, according to rumors, Apple's ready to release.
Even though we don't know if Apple will show off new hardware, continue reading to browse our top picks for what we could see during WWDC21.
Will We See a New iPod Touch?
For all the iPod lovers, there's still a chance that we will see a new iPod touch, and it might come sooner than you'd expect. Recently, there have been rumors that Apple's working on a 2021 iPod touch with a boxier design similar to the iPhone 12 and matching colors to the iMac. Although the rumors also suggest that we won't see this new iPod until the fall of this year, WWDC would be a perfect time to reveal it. Plus, it'd be a great way to commemorate the iPod Classic's 20th anniversary.
We Might Finally See the AirPods 3
We've been hearing about the third-generation AirPods 3 (pictured left) for a while now, and we actually expected Apple to announce them during its May event. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. Still, many rumors suggest that the AirPods 3 are ready to launch.
Leaker Jon Prosser said that Apple had the AirPods 3 and iMac ready since the end of last year. And although he's not always right, Apple has already revealed the 2021 iMac. What's cool about these new AirPods—at least according to rumors—is that they'll have similar styling cues to the AirPods Pro. This means a shorter stem and ear tips.
The AirPods 3 would also have Transparency Mode because of the new design. Sadly, it seems like Apple won't add Noise Cancellation, and it will remain exclusive to the AirPods Pro and AirPods Max. The case will also be similar to the AirPods Pro case. Other than that, we expect to see longer battery life and better sound quality. And they should go for around $199, similar to the current AirPods.
A New Mac mini Is Also in the Works
It hasn't been even a year since Apple released a new Mac mini with the powerful M1 chip. Still, many rumors suggest that Apple's already ready to launch a new, even more powerful Mac mini. According to Jon Prosser, this new Mac mini will feature the rumored M1X or M2 chip, and it'll have a sleeker design and may feature a material similar to plexiglass on the top of it. With all that said, this might be the least possible product on the list to be featured at the Worldwide Developers Conference. Still, there's a possibility, and since the Mac mini is the best product to create an affordable Apple setup, many of us would be excited to see it.
The New MacBook Pro Is (Almost) a Given
Rumor has it that Apple's not working on one but two new MacBook Pro models. These models come in 14 and 16 inches, and they would feature at least the M1 chip. However, many rumors suggest that Apple will use a new Apple Silicon chip for these MacBooks called M2 or M1X.
Many rumors strongly suggest that this is the new product Apple will feature during WWDC 2021, albeit you should take it with a grain of salt. Other than a more powerful processor, these MacBooks are said to have mini-LED displays, similar to the 2021 iPad Pro Apple recently announced.
