2 Not Removing Your Case When Charging

A third-party case is a great way to both protect and accessorize your iPhone. But there’s actually a little-known way that it can actually cause your device harm. Namely, if left on during charging, a third-party case can cause your device to overheat beyond its safe threshold.

That’s why, officially, Apple recommends that users remove their cases while their devices are charging. Of course, it might be a slightly inconvenience — so exercise your best judgement. Any bumper-style case that doesn’t cover the rear of the device should be fine, but users should keep the ambient temperature of their location in mind, too.
