New Apple Watches, iPads, MacBooks, HomePods and AirPods Are Coming Soon

Apple has quite a few new devices in its upcoming pipeline, from Apple Watches and iPads to a potential 16-inch MacBook Pro with a radical new design. Now, a new Bloomberg report gives a clearer idea of what to expect from Apple’s soon-to-come device lineup. Continue reading to learn about the new Apple devices you can expect next month.
New Apple Watches
Compared to the iPhones and iPads, Bloomberg expects the Apple Watch changes this year to be much “more muted.”
In other words, don’t expect any radical new designs. Apple is said to be focusing on the features introduced in watchOS 6 and new case finishes.
Those new finishes will likely include ceramic and titanium options. Earlier this month, Brazilian site iHelpBR found evidence within the latest watchOS 6 beta which pretty much confirms that the ceramic case option will be making a return alongside an all-new titanium variant.
New iPads
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman and Debby Wu outlined their expectations for this fall’s Apple product lineup, and it includes new iPads and iPad Pros.
The report suggests that Apple will refresh both the 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models with faster processors and improved cameras. There aren’t many details or rumors other than that, so expect more of an incremental year for the iPad Pro lineup (which is to be expected, since last year was a significant overhaul).
Additionally, Apple is also rumored to be working on a new 10.2-inch iPad that could launch this year. Bloomberg’s report today corroborates those rumors.
The 10.2-inch device is expected to be a replacement for the current entry-level 9.7-inch iPad. Other than a screen size boost, updates in the internal hardware category — such as a faster CPU — are also likely.
16-inch MacBook Pro
The report also goes on to suggest that Apple is still on-track to release an all-new MacBook Pro with a 16-inch display.
Bloomberg corroborates past reports that indicated the display size increase will be the result of ultra-slim bezels (in other words, the footprint will be the same as current 15-inch models). You can probably expect the 16-inch MacBook Pro to feature other routine MacBook upgrades, like faster processors and better graphics hardware.
Arguably the most notable change rumored to be coming to the new professional Mac notebook is a return to a scissor-switch keyboard.
Apple’s butterfly keyboards have been a bit of a headache, which has apparently lead the company to develop a new scissor-switch mechanism that will likely increase durability. Past reports indicate that the keyboard won’t be much thicker than current butterfly models, either.
New Audio Accessories
Lastly, the report goes over Apple’s expected audio accessories plan. In other words, new versions of HomePod and AirPods.
Bloomberg reports that Apple will release a new AirPods generation with water resistance and noise cancelation as early as 2020 (though they could be announced this year). Those are both features that were originally expected on the second-generation AirPods earlier this year.
Apple is also said to be working on a lower-cost HomePod, and Bloomberg corroborates that today and adds that it’ll feature “reduced tweeters.” That device could also come as early as 2020.
The report did not, however, make any mention of potential Apple over-ear headphones.
