Here’s What Each iPhone 12 Model Will Cost (and What You’ll Get for the Price)
Apple will have a full lineup of iPhones for us this fall if the rumor mill is correct. According to the latest discussion, the company may be planning to release not one, not two, but four different iPhone models. Each handset will come in at a different price point and with a different feature set. Continue reading for a break down of what each iPhone 12 model will cost you (and what you'll get in that package).
What's Common Across All iPhone 12 Models?
Though each iPhone 12 model is unique, the handsets will share a core set of features. These basics include, first and foremost, Apple's A14 bionic processor, which will be smaller, faster, and more energy-efficient than even the highly-regarded A13 Bionic. All phones also are expected to ship with 5G connectivity, OLED displays, and a minimum of 128GB of storage space.
5.4-inch iPhone 12 ($649)
Apple's 5.4-inch iPhone may offer a winning combination of features at a relatively low price point. It is expected to be the cheapest of the iPhone 12 models with a starting price tag of $649. This base model iPhone 12 may include 4GB of RAM and a dual-camera setup similar to the one we see on the iPhone 11. The camera will get a boost thanks to the A14 processor, which could enable faster autofocus, better image stabilization, and improved Smart HDR in low-light conditions.
The 5.4-inch iPhone 12 is expected to ship with an OLED display, but it may not have the 120Mhz refresh rate and the ProMotion screens found in the more expensive iPhone 12 Pro models. One major unknown is the form factor. A recent rumor suggests the 5.4-inch model may be an ultra-compact handset with a form factor that's about the size of the iPhone SE.
6.1-inch iPhone 12 Max ($749)
The 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Max model will cost $100 more than the smaller 5.4-inch iPhone 12, but you'll get a bigger display for that higher price tag. Most of the other features in the two handsets are expected to be the same. You'll likely get a dual camera, 128GB of storage and 4GB of RAM.
6.1-inch iPhone 12 Pro ($999)
There's a projected $250 jump in price for the Pro version of the 6.1-inch iPhone 12. This increase is due in part to the triple-lens camera and the LiDAR scanner on the 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Pro. LiDAR adds support for incredible augmented reality experiences and improves depth perception for portrait photography and autofocusing.
Another significant difference is the display with the Pro versions possibly shipping with a super smooth ProMotion display. The Pro version likely will have 6GB of RAM versus the 4GB for the non-Pro models.
6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max ($1,099)
The 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro is the big daddy of the 12 series. It'll have the largest display, possibly equipped with ProMotion, 6GB of RAM, and a triple camera lens setup with LiDAR. You'll pay $100 more for the big display, but, like the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max, there likely won't be a significant difference between the regular iPhone 12 Pro and the iPhone 12 Pro Max. The iPhone 12 Pro Max is expected to be announced this fall, but rumors suggest it may not go on sale until October.
