Apple Is Ditching the Silent Switch
This might come as a surprise for some, but it seems Apple is getting rid of the silent switch that’s been an iconic part of the iPhone since the original debuted in 2007.
Instead, the company plans to add an Action button, similar to the one found on the Apple Watch Ultra, that you can customize to do whatever you need. For instance, you could use it to trigger shortcuts, open your camera, or still set it to put your iPhone in silent mode.
People have already found code related to the Action button in the iOS 17 beta, so this is pretty much guaranteed at this point.
