Despite the many rumors we had heard, Apple still took us by surprise when it finally introduced a premium Apple Watch model.

Apple knocked it out of the park with the first Apple Watch Ultra, a smartwatch made for even the most demanding conditions.

Of course, a premium watch must also come with a premium price. Still, despite its price, the Apple Watch Ultra might be worth it. If you’re still on the fence, here is why you should buy the Apple Watch Ultra (and why you may want to skip it).

1. Buy It for the Better Battery

The Apple Watch Ultra is the biggest Apple Watch available, and Apple made sure to use the extra space to add an even bigger battery.

Apple claims the Apple Watch Ultra can last up to 36 hours. While that may sound like too much for a smartwatch, a lot of people have reported that they used the Apple Watch Ultra for two or even three days with a single charge.

If you’re always trying to make your Watch’s battery last longer, the Apple Watch Ultra might be a good purchase.

2. Buy It for the Better Display

Alongside its bigger body, the Apple Watch Ultra also comes with a larger, more durable display. The Ultra packs a 49mm display, which is way bigger and brighter than the display on the Apple Watch Series 8.

Moreover, the display isn’t just big but also durable. Apple covered the Apple Watch Ultra’s display with sapphire, making the screen more durable, even in the harshest conditions.

3. Buy It for the New Action Button

Another feature that stands out on the Ultra is that it has a new Action button on the Watch’s side.

This button can do a lot of things, and you can customize it however you want. For instance, you can use the Action button to control your workouts, open apps instantly, and even use shortcuts.

4. Buy It if You Want a Durable Watch

As we mentioned before, the Apple Watch Ultra has a durable display, but the rest of the body is just as strong.

Apple used a titanium body for the Ultra, making the watch more durable and able to withstand hard hits when doing extreme sports.

Unfortunately, Apple also decided to skip the titanium body for the Apple Watch Series 8, so if you have a really durable Apple Watch, the Ultra is pretty much your only option.

1. Don’t Buy It if You Don’t Want It to Stand Out

The first thing you’ll notice about the Apple Watch Ultra is how much it stands out. This is a pretty big watch, so people will definitely notice it on your wrist, especially because of that big, orange Action button.

Additionally, if you don’t like carrying bulky watches, this might not be for you. The 14.4mm thick body and the weight of 61.3g might be too uncomfortable for some people.

2. Don’t Buy It if You’re on a Budget

Remember when we said the Apple Watch Ultra is pretty expensive? Well, we meant it. The Ultra starts at $799, which is twice as much as the regular Apple Watch Series 8.

For $399, you can get the Series 8 and have all the latest features the Apple Watch has to offer (with a few exceptions).

For most people, the regular Series 8 is already too expensive, so you can also go for the Apple Watch SE for $249. This one comes with fewer features, but it comes with the basic features you probably want an Apple Watch for.

3. Don’t Buy It if You Don’t Like the Outdoors Life

The Apple Watch Ultra isn’t for everyone, and we’re not just talking about the price.

Apple designed the Ultra for people who love extreme sports and the outdoor life.

This Watch comes with a better GPS and a siren to help people find you in case you get lost. Not only that, but it’ll be able to work as a diving computer once Apple releases the Oceanic+ app.

If you do all your physical activity at the gym, the Apple Watch Series 8 or the SE will probably be more than enough for you.

To Buy or Not to Buy the Apple Watch Ultra

The biggest reason why you should buy or skip the Apple Watch Ultra is how physically active your life is.

If you’re the adventurous type and have the money to buy the Watch Ultra, you should go for it. You’ll get a great companion for when you want to hike, camp, or dive.

The Ultra’s design makes it easy to see and use outside. The extra button is helpful when you only want to launch an app but have globes or just can’t handle your watch or iPhone properly.

On the other hand, if you just want a watch that helps you track your heart rate, sleep, and other health features, and you mostly work out at the gym, then you’re better off with the Series 8 or the Apple Watch SE.

Of course, price is also a big factor. Make sure your budget can cover buying such an expensive smartwatch. That’s true for any expenditure over a certain amount.
