Apple Officially Releases iOS 14.6 with These 5 New Features and Changes
Today, Apple released the official iOS 14.6 and iPadOS 14.6 software updates. If you haven't, you can quickly install them by going to Settings, then General, then tap on Software Update. Even though this update isn't as big as iOS 14.5, which brought a new way to unlock your iPhone with your face mask on, and App Tracking Transparency, there are still a few new features that will make you want to download it, especially if you're going to make the most out of Apple Music Lossless Audio. Apple Card Family
Apple announced this feature during its May event, but it wasn't until now that you can share your Apple Card with other members of your family.
Now you can officially share your Apple Card with up to five other people, including people from your Family Sharing group. Keep in mind, though, any member that shares your Apple Card needs to be at least 13 years old.
Additionally, you can track all expenses made with Apple Card, as well as managing and limiting spending for any member of the family. And probably the best reason to use it, other people you share your Apple Card with will also be able to build up their credit score with you.
New AirTag and Find My Updates
Apple also released a couple of small updates for the new AirTags and the Find My app to help keep your data and phone number more secure.
Now, Lost Mode has the option to add an email address instead of just using your phone number. This feature will work with AirTags and other accessories that use the Find My network.
Additionally, if someone with an NFC-capable device, like an iPhone or an Android phone, taps on your AirTag, they'll only be able to see your phone number partially.
Subscription Support for Podcasts
With iOS 14.6 and iPad OS 14.6, Apple also added subscription support for your favorite channels and individual shows.
You'll still be able to use the Podcasts app for free, but now creators can choose to add free content, freemium content, which lets you listen for free and subscribe for special benefits, and paid podcasts where fans will need to subscribe to listen to a podcast.
New Voice Control Features
If you use the Accessibility feature Voice Control, Apple just made it easier for you to unlock your iPhone. With iOS 14.6, Voice Control users can unlock their iPhone the first time after a restart by using only their voice.
New Apple Music Support
Even though Apple hasn't released it yet, iOS 14.6 and iPadOS 14.6 bring support for the new Apple Music Lossless Audio. If you're planning to use this feature when it releases in June, you'll need to update your iPhone to iOS 14.6, in addition to using a supported device.
