4 Things That Didn’t Show Up at This Week’s WWDC25 Keynote

This year's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) was filled with announcements and new features that users have asked for a long time. Thanks to all the upcoming software updates, we'll have many new features to test in the next few months.
And thanks to the leaks, we already knew many of the things that Apple would announce. Yes, rumors were pretty spot-on this time around. Everything from a name change to a glass-like design turned out to be accurate.
Still, there were a few things that we were expecting that Apple didn't showcase during this week's WWDC. Some people were expecting a new product, while others just wanted Apple to show some love to their favorite home accessories.
That's not to say these things won't ever show up, but read on for four things Apple didn't announce during Monday's WWDC keynote.
Siri
The first notable thing missing from this year's WWDC was Apple's virtual assistant. After being one of the major focal points in last year's presentation, Siri took the back seat this year. Or rather, it wasn't even in the car.
Apple didn't provide any significant announcements regarding Siri despite our expectations for news on the personalization features promised for 2024. The only mention of Siri during the keynote was when Apple's software engineering chief, Craig Federighi, mentioned that Apple is "continuing our work to deliver the features that make Siri even more personal."
In an interview following the presentation, Federighi explained more about why Siri's personalized features aren't yet ready and confirmed that we'll get more details in the coming year.
As unfortunate as it is not to receive new Siri updates, it was already what we expected. Apple faced a huge backlash due to the promises it made during last year's WWDC that it couldn't deliver. Hopefully, we'll be able to see a new and improved Siri before the end of the year, but we'll have to wait and see, as most rumors still point to an early 2026 update.
A New Product
Granted, pretty much everyone predicted we wouldn't see new hardware products at this year's WWDC. However, there was still speculation that Apple might surprise us by announcing a brand-new product during its keynote presentation.
Some people were speculating that Apple might announce the new MacBook Pro models, while others thought we might see the second-generation AirTag.
Of course, as we now know, none of those things happened. So we'll have to wait a little longer before Apple launches another new product.
Stage Manager for the iPhone
There was a rumor circulating before WWDC that Apple might add a version of Stage Manager to the iPhone.
Stage Manager is an iPad feature that allows you to have multiple windows and apps open simultaneously when connected to an external monitor, making it easier to manage your workflow and be more productive.
While the iPhone doesn't have a feature that can do that, rumors suggested that a limited version of Stage Manager might be introduced during this year's WWDC, creating a desktop-like interface similar to what Samsung did years ago with DeX.
Unfortunately, that didn't happen, which means professionals won't be able to use their iPhones for heavy workflows just yet. But who knows? Maybe iOS 27 will be the one.
HomePod
Before this WWDC, you could argue that Apple didn't care much for both the Apple TV and the HomePod. Both devices existed, but they didn't get much love overall.
The Apple TV is now receiving some attention from Apple with tvOS 26, but the HomePod remains overlooked.
Of course, the HomePod has never been that popular, but there were rumors that Apple might introduce a new "homeOS" operating system. Alongside that rumor, there have been reports that Apple is working on a new HomePod with a display, a wall-mountable home hub, and even a smart home doorbell and security camera.
These rumors have gained popularity, which is why many HomePod fans were expecting some news during Apple's presentation.
Unfortunately, that didn't happen. That doesn't mean it won't ever happen, as some people speculate that Apple will announce homeOS alongside the new products, at least some of which have been held back by its struggles with Siri. We'll just have to wait a little longer.
Playing the Waiting Game
Just because these things didn't show up during Apple's WWDC keynote doesn't mean the company has forgotten about them.
Unfortunately, we'll have to play the waiting game for a few months until Apple launches one of these new updates. On the bright side, we'll have a ton of features to play with once iOS 26 and all the other software updates are available to the public later this year.
