Apple just keeps releasing betas of its new iOS 10 ahead of its final release in September, it seems. The seventh beta for registered developers was issued by Apple, just five days after the company released the sixth beta on Monday.

Two beta versions being rolled out in one week is pretty unheard of, but some are theorizing that it’s a security update that fixes a vulnerability present in the last few beta versions.

Reportedly, iOS beta 7 doesn’t included any new features or major UI changes, but some beta testers have reported that Touch ID works significantly faster in the new version, according to a Reddit thread for testers. Interestingly enough, the beta 7 release notes for developers did not include any apparent fixes or changes — it only listed known bugs and issues that Apple is still working on.

The last few betas seem to have brought mostly under-the-hood changes. But Apple has still snuck in some quiet changes, including a new lock sound, over 100 new emojis, and some Control Center tweaks. In addition to the registered developer release, Apple has officially issued Monday’s beta 6 version for public beta testers. But there’s currently no sign of updates for macOS, watchOS or tvOS though, according to TechCrunch.

If you’re a registered developer, you can download iOS 10 on Apple’s Developer Page. While the iOS 10 betas have been pretty stable thus far, it’s not recommended that you download it on your main phone — show-stopping bugs could potentially render your device unusable.

iOS 10 should turn out to be one of Apple’s most significant operating system updates in the past few years — with new features that include an improved Widgets system, a massive update for the Messages app, and improvements to the News app and Apple Music.

The final version should officially roll out sometime this fall.
