A Physical 2FA Key
Digital two-factor authentication can go a long way in locking down your online accounts — so it’s strongly recommended. But online 2FA systems, which typically require a text message to be sent to a primary device, are still vulnerable to interception and attack. That’s a weakness that physical 2FA keys don’t have.
Basically, you plug your 2FA key into your computer when you’re logging into your account. Without the key, logging in is impossible (so don’t lose it). Yubico makes some excellent options in both USB-A and USB-C variants. Currently, they’re compatible with Gmail, Facebook, Dropbox, LastPass and a bunch of other online platforms. Get it here.
