Same Design (But More Durable)
The first thing you’ll notice about the new iPhone SE is that it looks like the old iPhone SE. Unfortunately, Apple decided to stick with the exact same iPhone 8 body for the 2022 model. So on the outside, you won’t see or feel anything different from the 2020 iPhone SE. The only minor change is the colors it comes in.
Now the iPhone SE comes in Midnight, Starlight, and Product Red, which are pretty much black, white, and red, but the colors appear to be slightly different this time around. But that won’t be enough if you’re hoping to feel like you have a brand new iPhone.
One big change you won’t notice, but it’s pretty big, is that Apple decided to add its Ceramic Shield coating to the back and the front of the iPhone. Or at least, we can only guess it’s Ceramic Shield. Apple called it the “toughest glass on any smartphone.” Still, this means that the new iPhone SE is more durable than previous models, and it’ll likely be able to resist a few falls without cracking.
Plus, if you love Touch ID, you won’t be disappointed this year either. One good thing about the old iPhone 8 is that it still has a big Home button with Touch ID at the bottom of your screen. Of course, that means the screen won’t be as big as many of us would like, but it’s pretty much a compromise we have to deal with.
