The 14.1 update brings support for the HomePod mini, allowing owners to set up their new HomePod mini with minimal effort. The software will automatically transfer your Apple ID, ?Apple Music?, ?Siri?, and Wi-Fi settings. This feature will certainly come in handy when the HomePod mini starts going on sale in November.
?Siri? Gets a Boost
Apple added a handful of new voice controls to Siri in HomePod 14.1. You can now use Siri to stop alarms, halt timers, and pause media on any of your ?HomePod? speakers. The HomePod software now also integrates more closely with iOS. Start a web search with Siri on the HomePod and the results can be sent to your phone. Siri also can show suggestions in Maps when you ask your HomePod about a location.
Intercom Goes Live
The latest version of the HomePod software adds Apple's new Intercom feature that the company showcased during its iPhone 12 press event. This version allows HomePod? to broadcast announcements to other connected ?HomePod? speakers and Apple devices inside, or outside, the home. Owners can also send an intercom message to a HomePod in a specific room or zone.
