Amazon Just Unveiled These 7 Awesome New Products (Including a Robot)

Amazon just had its fall event, and it revealed a bunch of new products that we'll get the chance to test this holiday season. Amazon showed us a little bit of everything, from a new fitness tracker to a crazy new home robot. We're clearly living in the future, my friends. There were many surprises almost no one expected. Continue reading to browse every cool new thing Amazon revealed.
Meet Astro, Amazon's Home Robot
One of the most exciting announcements during Amazon's event was Astro. This is the company's new robot assistant for your home. Astro will basically work as a giant, moving smartphone. You can use Astro to control your home security, and it can move around your house on its own! It avoids hitting objects thanks to its cameras and sensors, thankfully. What's more, it has a rotating screen that acts as its "face" to make it look more friendly. It also works as a touchscreen that you can use like any other smart device. As of right now, not everyone will get the chance to test Astro – Amazon will deliver it to select customers later this year for $999.
Amazon's First Fitness Tracker
Amazon also revealed a new first-party fitness tracker called Halo View. This is a small fitness band that will help you track your activity throughout the day thanks to its color AMOLED display. It'll also help you track your nutrition with new services Amazon revealed: Halo Fitness, which is a service similar to Apple Fitness+ that will be available by the end of the year, and Halo Nutrition, which helps you track your nutrition as the MyFitnessPal does. This service will be available in January of next year. Amazon didn't say precisely when, but the Halo View will be available in time for the holidays, and it'll cost $79.99.
Amazon Also Showed Off a New Smart Thermostat
Another new device from Amazon will be ready to ship later this year, which you'll be able to control with your smartphone, and also works with Alexa. It's the new Smart Thermostat that Amazon made in a partnership with Resideo, the company behind many smart home products. You'll be able to pre-order the new Smart Thermostat later this year, and it'll cost $59.99.
Amazon Introduced a New 15.6-Inch Echo Show
The Echo Show is a display that you can easily mount on your wall or place on your counter. It's meant to be basically a really big iPad. You and your family can use it to track packages, make phone calls, or leave notes for other people. You can also use the Echo Show 15's 1080p Full HD display to watch Netflix, Hulu, and, yes, Prime Video too. The Echo Show 15 will be available later this year, and it'll cost $249.99
An Echo Glow for Your Kids
Amazon revealed a new device called Echo Glow. This tablet-like device is meant to be your kids' companion. It has an 8-inch display that kids can use to read stories, create art, and have video calls with the rest of the family. The Echo Glow will feature content from Disney, Nickelodeon, and Sesame Workshop. The Echo Glow will cost $299.99 when it's available for everyone, but you can apply for the early access program and buy it for $249.99.
Amazon and Disney Announced a New 'Hey Disney'
Forget about "Hey Alexa," you can now get a new Disney virtual assistant. Okay, it's not actually a "new" virtual assistant. Instead, Hey Disney is built on Alexa, and it'll be available next year. Unfortunately, if you want it at home, you'll have to pay extra for it. If you want to try it out for "free," Hey Disney will also be available in Disney World resort hotel rooms too. Alongside Hey Disney, Amazon also revealed a new Echo Show 5 stand with a Mickey Mouse theme. You can pre-order it next Tuesday, and it'll cost $24.99.
You Can Now Get an Invitation for Amazon's Security Drone
Amazon's Ring security drone was first introduced back in the fall of 2020, but now you can actually request to be invited to buy it. In case you missed it, Amazon's Always Home Cam is a security drone for your home. It's got a built-in camera that you can use to watch your home in real-time while you're away. It moves around your house and shows you different rooms and areas, so you know you're secure. If you want to get the Always Home Cam, you can be one of the lucky few who get to buy it for $249.99.
