5. Untappd
If you’re a fan of craft beer, then Untappd is a great way to making drinking more social. Untappd lets user find new beers, breweries, bars and venues — and share those discoveries with their friends. Users can get alerts when their favorite bar gets a new beer on tap, and the app even allows brew aficionados to keep lists of the beers they’ve tried — complete with ratings and notes. For the planning phase, the app even lets users see what’s currently on tap at nearby bars and restaurants. The app also has a strong social aspect, letting users create profiles and connect with fellow beer connoisseurs to see what they’ve been drinking. Untappd is available for free from the App Store. 4. OpenTable
Whether your St. Patrick’s Day plans involve a restaurant, bar or gastropub, it’s hard to argue that everything goes a lot smoother with a reservation. Luckily, OpenTable makes the reservation process a whole lot easier. Users can make reservations simply, easily and completely free. If you can’t suddenly make it, the app allows reservations management on-the-go — which includes changing, cancelling and re-booking. You can search through available restaurants via a variety of filters (party size, cuisine, price, distance, etc.) and easily share invitations to friends. The app also has a rewards system that lets long-time users save on future meals when they dine out. OpenTable is a free download on the App Store. Get it here.

3. Drunk Mode
We all know that, sometimes, a night can get out of hand pretty quickly — of course, we encourage you all to drink responsibly. Having said that, Drunk Mode is actually an excellent app to make your night out easier and safer, no matter where it takes you. The app is basically a Swiss Army Knife for a night out or a party. Its first feature is aptly named Stop Drunk Dialing — it allows you to select a contact and block calls to them for a certain amount of time. Find My Drunk allows you to track your friends on a night out, so you never have to worry about losing them — and the app lets you send an alert out to your friends when you’ve made it home safely. Breadcrumbs lets you review the night’s activities the morning after, tracking where you went throughout the evening. The app also has a heat map that displays local parties populated by users of the app. There’s a Find a Safe Ride Home feature, as well (but we’ll get to that part later on in this list). Drunk Mode is available as a free download in the Apple App Store. Get it here.

2. Saucy
If you’d rather stay in and avoid the St. Patty’s Day crowds, but still want to enjoy a cold Guinness or a lowball of Jameson, then Saucy might be the app for you. Put simply, Saucy is an alcohol delivery app — and one that promises beverages straight to your door in one hour or less. Whether you want beer, wine or spirits, Saucy promises to deliver whatever your choice of poison is “in minutes.” In hopes of truly saving you a trip to the liquor store, Saucy also carries a variety of mixers, ice, garnishes and snacks. The app isn’t available everywhere quite yet, however. Currently, Saucy serves San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago and Sacramento. Saucy is a free download from the App Store. Get it here.

1. Lyft
Fun and libations are great things, but it’s important to remember the absolute most important rule of a night out: never drive drunk. By now, most of us are probably familiar with ride-sharing apps — but their ubiquity doesn’t make them any less important for a successful and safe night out. Lyft is simple: you download the app, request a ride to or from home, and minutes later, a Lyft driver will pick you up. It’s simple, easy, relatively inexpensive, and ensures that you never have to worry about finding a way home. Lyft drivers must pass comprehensive DMV and background checks, and are rated — with only the highest-rated drivers allowed on the road. It’s an awesome substitute for a dedicated driver (especially when there aren’t any volunteers for that position). Lyft is available for free on the App Store — though rides cost money, of course.
