Add Photos, Locations, or Workouts to Your Entries
Journaling doesn’t have to start with words — and Apple’s Journal app embraces that idea. It encourages you to capture meaningful moments by adding photos, locations, workouts, or even moods drawn from your Health data.
To get started, open the Journal app and tap the plus icon in the bottom-right corner of the screen. From there, you should get some recommendations from the Journal app itself, but if you’d rather start fresh, tap the x icon in the top left corner of the menu.
A small menu will appear above the keyboard. You can tap each button to add content like a picture, your current location, or a mood.
Once you’ve added something, you can type or speak your thoughts to go along with it. This feature is especially handy if you’re a visual thinker — perfect for remembering a trip, reflecting on your mood after a tough day, or simply adding some real-world context. These small touches can make your journal feel more personal and alive.
