M5 iPad Pro
Apple’s iPad Pro got a big leap with M4, yet the rumor drum keeps beating for an M5 jump late this year. Several leakers and analysts say that Apple is already in the mass production stage for the iPad Pro, which means we might still see it in 2025. Leaked specs a few days ago even led to speculation that Apple was going to feature it alongside this week’s new iPhone lineup. While that didn’t happen, it doesn’t mean it’s not still in the cards.
Unfortunately, we don’t expect any design updates for the iPad Pro lineup. Since Apple already made the device incredibly thin last year, it’s highly likely that the company will keep the same body for one or two more updates.
This leaves room for improvements on the inside. But what does the M5 chip bring to a tablet that already feels fast? Most likely, the iPad will be the most powerful one yet again, with improvements in graphics, machine learning tasks, and efficiency that extend battery life at the same brightness.
If you cut video on the go, bounce between large RAW files in a studio, or push big numbers in data analysis apps, that extra boost definitely helps. Pair that with iPadOS 26 improvements around multitasking, and the whole setup starts to look more like a portable desktop than a big phone.
Of course, if you have a 2024 iPad Pro, you won’t need to update your tablet this year. However, if you’re in need of the speed of a brand-new iPad, we recommend waiting at least a few more weeks before making a purchase.
