If you don’t already own The Sims 4 on Windows PC or Mac, you now have the opportunity to pick up a digital version of the game for free.

The popular life simulation game is currently free on Origin, an online game distribution platform owned by EA, in both PC and Mac formats.

While there aren’t any strings attached, you should act fast. The promotion kicked off this week but only lasts until May 28.

First released back in 2014, The Sims 4 was the best-selling PC game that year and the next (and it continues to have a steadily increasing player count).

While there’s plenty to do in the base version of the game, The Sims 4 has also amassed a mountain of additional downloadable content — the most recent of which was launched in November 2018.

Of course, none of that DLC is included with the free game via Origin. Presumably, EA is hoping that you’ll get hooked on Simming and buy DLC down the road. But it’s hard to argue with a free game.

How to Get The Sims 4 for Free

To reserve your free copy of the game, all you have to do is head over to its Origin webpage and claim it by clicking on the “Get it Free” button.

You will need to log in with your EA account, however. If you don’t have one, you’ll need to sign up for one (thankfully, it’s free to do so).

The free game applies to everyone, whether or not you pay for an Origin Access subscription. In fact, if you’re an existing Origin subscriber, you already have access to the Digital Deluxe version of the game. Users who pay for the Origin Access Premier tier also get the Dine Out and Kids Room DLC packs.

It’s worth noting that some people have experienced issues claiming the game through the Origin desktop client. You’re better off just using the webpage.

The promotion appears to be available in all regions, so you can nab The Sims 4 no matter where you live.

Again, you only have a week to get it, so you should act fast if you want to start micromanaging the lives of tiny virtual characters.
