The Apple Watch Series 7 made its official debut this week, but the Watch won’t land in the hands of consumers until later this fall. Apple was brief on details, and for a good reason.
The Watch Series 7 ships with Apple’s S7 chipset, which shares the same basic internals as the S6 chip in the Apple Watch Series 6.
Apple didn’t make performance claims for the Apple Watch 7, suggesting that the Series 6 and the Series 7 offer a similar experience.
Apple likely renamed the chip to the S7 due to potential changes in power utilization that’ll manage battery life while powering the slightly larger display.

Other tidbits include support for Bluetooth 5.0, Chinese GPS Beidou, and the same U1 location chip found in the Series 6 and iPhone 12.
