Apple’s upcoming 2022 iPhone 14 Pro will not only come with a major redesign that will look very similar to the iPhone 4, and will finally ditch the notch, but will also allegedly come with at least 8GB of RAM, according to a new report.

Apple’s iPhone 13 Pro comes with 6GB of RAM, but the iPhone 14 Pro is now expected to pack at least 8GB of RAM. This information comes from the source who correctly said the iPad mini would get a redesign and 8.3” display.

The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max are now expected to get an extra 2GB which will bring even better performance.

The report comes from “yeux1122” who posted on the Korean blog Kaver. MacRumors was the first to spot the report, it is said that the supply chain is ready for the update in RAM capacity.

“It is said the RAM installed in the iPhone 14 Pro to be released this year will be 8GB. The parts related to the supply with related companies have already been confirmed, and the scheduling for mass production seems to proceed faster. The new Galaxy flagship model and RAM have become the same.”

(Translated to English)

Based on the translation, the RAM will be in line with the brand-new Galaxy S22 Ultra which has the best specs on any smartphone right now, but yet underperforms compared to last year’s iPhone 13.

Apple is expected to bring some new features to the iPhone 14 Pro lineup this year. They could have updated the RAM for the new 48MP camera which is expected to be the biggest MP increase to the iPhone camera since the iPhone 6s, when Apple started using a 12MP camera in 2015.

That would mean Apple has been resting on 12MP sensors for a total of seven years while adding two more lenses in the process. But, we will find out for sure later this year when Apple releases the new iPhones. Thanks for reading!
