Apple Announces a ‘New’ 13-inch MacBook Pro with Beastly M2 Chip

Alongside the new MacBook Air, Apple also confirmed the 13-inch MacBook Pro would have an upgrade as well, albeit it might not be what most users were thinking.

What Matters Is on the Inside

Unfortunately for MacBook Pro fans, the “new” 13-inch Macbook Pro isn’t totally new. On the outside, the MacBook Pro is the same as the 2020 model— which was also one of the first models to feature the M1 chip.

Instead of changing the outside and improving the hardware — as it did on the MacBook Air — Apple mostly upgraded the internals of the MacBook Pro.

Sure, it might look like the same model, but the 13-inch MacBook Pro now has a more powerful processor that is going to make it stand out from the crowd.

What’s the New MacBook Pro’s Price and Release Date?

Unfortunately, for most of us, the price is also different for the M2 MacBook Pro. The new MacBook Pro will start at $1,299.

Sure, it’s still cheaper than the 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pros, but it’s also more expensive than the M1 MacBook Pro, which will cost $1,099.

Apple confirmed the new MacBook Pro and the MacBook Air will be available in July.

Even though it didn’t get a ton of love, the new 13-inch MacBook Pro became one of the first new Mac computers to jump from the first generation of Apple Silicon to the second.
