Does Your iPhone 8 Have a Faulty Logic Board? Apple May Repair It for Free

If you own an iPhone 8 suffering from unexpected issues like frozen screens, random restarts, or simply won’t turn on, Apple may repair it for free.

Some iPhone 8 devices in China, Hong Kong, India, Australia, Japan, New Zealand, and the United States sold between September 2017 and March 2018 have a faulty logic board due to a manufacturing defect.

Apple admits that only a “very small percentage” of devices are affected by the defect, but the company will repair those devices free of charge.

Am I Eligible for Repair?

Note that the iPhone 8 Plus isn’t affected and therefore isn’t included in this repair service. Along with the iPhone 8 Plus, no other iPhone models are eligible for repair.

Be aware that iPhones with other issues like cracked screens or water damage will need to be repaired before Apple will service the logic board. Those repair costs must be covered by the owner where applicable.

1. If you’re eligible for service, be sure to backup your iPhone first.
2. Then schedule an appointment to bring the iPhone into your local Apple Store for service (or find an authorized service provider. Or mail your device to Apple for repair).
