The Complete iPhone 6S Rumor Guide Revealed

The iPhone 6S is undoubtedly going to be a great phone. We have heard from multiple sources that Apple knows the “S” line has become less than groundbreaking in the eyes of consumers. Apple is responding by introducing radically new concepts and features to the iPhone 6S in effort to bring the excitement back into phone upgrades.

We are continuously learning new information regarding the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus, while simultaneously updating the site as soon as possible. This creates a large abundance of iPhone 6S rumor articles, which can be time consuming to search for and read through.

You’re probably thinking “wouldn’t it be nice if someone compiled all of the iPhone 6S rumors into one article?” Well, we read your mind. Find below, everything you need to know about the iPhone 6S.

Force Touch

Force Touch is the technology developed by Apple for the Apple Watch and MacBook Pro line, which can sense how hard a user is pressing on the screen. Sounds, interesting, but Apple claims it will revolutionize the way we use our devices.

Information on how the Force Touch technology will actually be used in the iPhone 6S was leaked. The source claims, for example, a deep press can skip existing lists of options and/or button presses, acting as a shortcut for certain actions.

In the Maps app, users can deep press on a destination to immediately begin navigation there, skipping several steps in the process. A deep press can also be used to bring up a contextually-specific menu – in the Music app, deep pressing a song will bring up a menu allowing the user to add the song to a playlist or save it for listening offline. Deep pressing an app can bring up a contextual menu, as well – deep pressing the phone icon on the home screen, for example, will allow the user to head directly to the Voicemail tab. The Force Touch feature on the phone will mimic some of its uses in Apple’s latest MacBooks, as well – deep pressing a link in Safari will bring up a preview of that page, etc.

Increased Storage Capacity

Rumors speculate that the device will drop the 16 GB entry-level storage capacity. It is highly possible, and anticipated, that Apple will instead introduce a 32 GB memory module to the iPhone 6S. Allegedly, there are no indications of a 16 GB iPhone 6S within Apple’s production facility, Foxconn. Rumors state that only 32 GB, 64 GB, and 128 GB versions of the iPhone 6S will be available for purchase. This move would double the base-model storage capacity of Apple’s newest flagship device making the iPhone more capable than ever.

Rose Gold Color Option

Various sources have speculated that the iPhone 6S will be released in a new color option, rose gold. The fourth color option would create an enticing option for people with slightly more eclectic tastes. Sources have been back and forth regarding the rose gold option, some say we will have it, and some say the opposite. Hopefully Apple does release the new color option, the more the merrier.

Super Strong Materials

Another exciting rumor is the supposed reinforcement in Apple’s new iPhone 6S back plate. The dimensions are only slightly thicker than the current iPhone 6 and 6 Plus models: 1.9mm on the iPhone 6S versus 1.14mm on the iPhone 6 according to measurements done by Unbox Therapy. Furthermore, despite the additional thickness, the new iPhone 6S shell will weigh in approximately 2 grams lighter than its predecessor. For those concerned about a heavier new iPhone model, this will put their concerns to rest.

The difference in weight, it seems, comes from Apple’s move to invest in and use 7000 series aluminum in their iPhone casings. 7000 series aluminum is touted to be “60 percent stronger than most aluminum, and one-third the density of stainless steel.” This is the same material that is currently being used in the Apple Watch Sport, so it would make sense that Apple would carry the successes over to its iPhone device.

iPhone 6C

Prominent leaker, Evan Blass, stated yesterday:

Blass, notorious for leaking information regarding several HTC, Motorola, and Samsung devices ahead of their launch, has an extremely accurate track record when it comes to leaking information on mobile devices. So while, we are hearing rumors that the 6C will not come out and will be discontinued, it is possible that there will be a release.  However, judging by the failure of the previous C series, we would not be shocked to see it get dropped completely.  The truth will be known on September 9th.  Would you guys like to see a C series?

Improved Camera

Documents have been leaked containing information about the new iPhone 6s and 6s Plus camera module. The document reportedly comes from an employee of Foxconn, one of Apple’s largest manufacturing facilities in China.

The document solidifies rumors that we have speculated about in the past. Rumors around the web have stated for sometime that the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus would be receiving a new 12 megapixel camera, upgraded from 8 megapixels on the current generation. Also upgraded will be the video resolution capability, now up to 4K quality.

Selfie addicts will be pleased to hear the front-facing camera will most likely get an upgrade as well. The current iPhone 6 front-facing camera takes decent enough pictures, but like we said before there is always room for improvement. The document states that the new front-facing camera will be upgraded to 5 megapixels, up from 1.2 megapixels. Current competition from Samsung is already offering 5 megapixel front-facing cameras, so the upgrade will be a welcome addition for iPhone lovers.

New Microphone

It has also been predicted that Apple will be putting another microphone near the iPhone 6S’s speakers to improve the sound quality. Some say that the added microphone could help create a better, more accurate, Siri experience.

Enhanced Touch ID

There will also be major improvements to the fingerprint scanner that will produce faster and more accurate readings. This coincides with the Apple Pay experience, which is dependent on the Touch ID fingerprint scanner. For iOS users, the update will help ensure that Apple Pay readings are quick, easy, and secure.

Even Faster Performance

The new devices will also feature an A9 chipset and 2GB of RAM, adding more power and speed to the smartphone. This speculation wouldn’t be too far-fetched of an idea given that Apple debuted the iPad Air 2 with 2GB of RAM, up from 1GB.

Proactive Siri

Intelligence is key in this fast paced culture of ours. We need our phones to be smarter and to be proactive rather than reactive. In iOS 9, almost everything has become keener. Siri is back with a new look, but more importantly will be able to complete tasks before you even think about them. For example, actions based on your location might play your “work out” playlist for you, as you walk into your gym and plug in your headphones.

Dining out is even simpler. If you receive a notification for a reservation in an email, Siri will automatically add the reservation to your calendar. Siri will also remind you of the reservation and pull up directions the moment as you should leave based on traffic. All of this to make sure you make it to the restaurant on time.

Siri will also be able to sort through your recent emails, messages, and notes to find contact information. Upon receiving a phone call from a number you don’t recognize, Siri might find that same phone number in the signature of an email from Johnny Appleseed. Siri will suggest that it could be “Johnny Appleseed” calling. This feature could save you from answering a phone call from an unexpected person or simply save you the time it would take to create a new contact.

Battery Life

Battery life might be the biggest deciding factor when choosing a smartphone. iPhone battery life is remarkable compared to the competition, but still leaves room for improvement. Fortunately, battery life will be improved dramatically in iOS 9. iOS 9 will power your iPhone’s battery an entire hour longer than it did in iOS 8. Are you wondering how they will accomplish this feat? Apple surely won’t reveal any secrets, but it’s a feature we are ecstatic to see in the update, so we won’t ask any questions.

Even better yet, iOS 9 will include a new feature aptly named “Low Power Mode.” Have you ever sifted through your settings, turning off every bell and whistle including Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and syncing schedules just to squeeze out some more battery life? I certainly have, and that is why I’m undeniably ready for Low Power Mode in iOS 9. Instead of going through all your settings attempting to turn off any unnecessary features possible to lengthen your battery power, Low Power Mode does it all for you. It even “pulls levers you didn’t even know about” extending battery life by up to 3 hours, which could be a lifesaver in emergency situations.
