It has been long thought that Apple did away with their iPhone C models back with the 5c model (which has since been discontinued). And when the iPhone 6 debuted with the 6s soon behind it, fans and sources wrote off the idea of a C model. However, rumors of an iPhone 6c device have surfaced once again, claiming that we could see an iPhone 6c model as early as February 2016.
The most recent speculation that we could see an iPhone 6c in the not too distant future came from a China Mobile presentation merely a few days ago.
And this isn’t the first we’ve heard as far as the iPhone 6c goes: MacRumors believes that the device will have an A9 processor on board in addition to “an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, a 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 4.1.” and possible integration with Touch ID and Apple Pay.
Anonymous employees from Foxconn (the multinational electronics contract manufacturing company that builds the iPhones) have reported that the iPhone 6c device is supposed to make an appearance as early as February 2016.
Analyst and popular Apple aficionado Ming-Chi Kuo believes that Apple will deliver the 4-inch device in April 2016, priced around $400-500, in order to meet their customer’s needs for a more affordable and more manageable Apple smartphone. Kuo has accurately predicted previous product launches by Apple, including the 11-inch MacBook Air and the fourth-generation iPod touch.
If the iPhone 6c does come to pass, it would make sense that Apple would aim to release the device in the early part of 2016. The company is already planning on holding an event in March, where they will announce the second-generation of their popular wearable, the Apple Watch.
