Many rumors point out that Apple’s working on a new headset – two different headsets, actually. Even though we haven’t heard much about these products in a while, a recent report reveals possible release times.
Digitimes shared the report, stating that the Apple headset, which is a new augmented reality headset geared toward developers, just finished P2, the second phase of prototype testing.
Moreover, the report says that this new headset will start mass-production in the second quarter of 2022, and is expected to be released later in the third or fourth quarter.
The report goes on to say that Apple will consider this headset an industrial product because of the high cost of components. Because of this, it’s expected that this headset will cost more than $2,000.
Because of that hefty price, Apple will also produce another type of headset aimed at the general public. This headset is known, at least for now, as Apple Glass. Unfortunately, Apple’s still working slowly on this new product.
According to the report, the design of Apple’s glasses hasn’t been finalized yet, and they’re expected to enter mass production after 2023. This is similar to what Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo mentioned in the past. According to what Kuo said, we should also expect the first Apple headset to be released in 2022. As for Apple’s AR glasses, Kuo said that we won’t see them until 2025.
