According to a new report from Mac Otakara, sources involved with the supply chain in China say Apple and its partners have just started production of the iPad Air 5 and iPhone SE 5G. But this may not be true.
The report also claims that the iPhone SE 3 5G will use the same chassis as the current iPhone SE, the A15 processor, 5G, but will not have MagSafe support.
On the other hand, the report claims that the iPad Air 5 will have the same design as the iPad Air 4 launched in September 2020.
The current iPad Air features power button Touch ID, a USB-C port, a single rear camera, and a 10.9-inch display. It is currently available in Space Gray, Silver, Green, Sky Blue, and Rose Gold.

I asked my sources if their information matched what Mac Otakara is saying, because I spoke with them recently and was told that production is scheduled internally for the second week of March, not now.
We aren’t sure about iPad Air 5 production, even though it probably has not started yet, but they made it clear to me that iPhone SE 3 5G production has not started yet either and will not until the second week of March. However, our sources agree with the rest of the report.
We shared much of this information with you earlier this week. I would like to add that China is celebrating the New Year right now. So I doubt that production has started, since the holiday lasts seven days and ends on February 7. Mac Otakara‘s story is not coherent.
I assume that the iPhone SE 3 5G, or whatever the Apple marketing team wants to call it, and the iPad Air 5 will be unveiled in a pre-recorded event filmed mainly at Apple Park.
Of course, the company can always change these dates for whatever reason, but given its conservative attitude towards product announcements after what happened with AirPower, I don’t think that will happen.
We will see, but I don’t think Mac Otakara is right on this one. I don’t know where they got that information, but at least according to my sources, it is not true. Maybe Mac Otakara knows something we don’t, but I don’t think that’s the case this time. Time will tell. Thank you very much for reading!
