iPhone 6s Release Date Revealed

We’ve been gathering multitudes of rumors regarding the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus, and with each new rumor we get closer and closer to their official release!

We recently shared with the public that Apple’s fall keynote is expected to commence next month, on September 9th. We expect to learn exciting news regarding the iPhone 6S, 6S Plus, a new iPad model, a new Apple TV, and probably more.

A report from 9to5Mac earlier this week revealed internal leaks from Best Buy. These leaks show new Apple Care plans for the iPhone 6S will begin rolling out on September 14th. This time frame leaves a few days for employees at the retail chain to get accustomed to the service, as other leaks suggest the pre-order date of the iPhone 6S to take place just few days later.

ITHome, a popular Japanese website, uncovered that the iPhone 6S will be released in their home country on September 18th. Interestingly, we learned earlier this year that Vodaphone, essentially the European version of Verizon, also leaked an internal memo stating that the iPhone 6S will be available for pre-order on September 18th.

It is alleged the iPhone 6s will be available for pre-order on September 18th and will then be officially released in-stores on September 25th.

According to Forbes

Japan, Germany and the UK are all tier one Apple launch countries with iPhones traditionally being made available to them at the same time as the US release.”

We haven’t learned any solid information regarding the United States release of the iPhone 6S, but with the concurrent launch schedules of other top tier countries, we can expect the United States to fall in line.

We’ll learn official information regarding the iPhone 6S on September 9th. Until then, move over to page 2 to read a few of the most widely accepted rumors, and biggest reasons to be excited about the iPhone 6S.

Force Touch

Apple’s display technology will be able to sense how hard you’re pressing on your iPhone 6S’s screen. This will effectively enhance they way we interact with our phones. For example, hard pressing on a spot on the Maps application could take you there directly. Hard pressing on the Phone application icon could take you directly to the voicemail application.

Increased Storage Capacity

Allegedly the iPhone 6S will be skipping the outdated 16 GB base size all together. The admittedly small amount of storage could be bumped up to 32 GB, essentially doubling the amount of storage available on the base model iPhone 6 as of today.

Rose Gold Color

Various sources have speculated that the iPhone 6S will be released in a new color option, rose gold. The fourth color option would create an enticing option for people with slightly more eclectic tastes. Sources have been back and forth regarding the rose gold option, some say we will have it, and some say the opposite. Hopefully Apple does release the new color option, the more the merrier.

Super Strong Materials

Reports state that the iPhone 6S will be slightly thicker than the iPhone 6, but this is due to added features and stronger materials, which make up the outer casing. Sources say that the iPhone 6S will be constructed out of 7000 series aluminum, which will be undoubtedly stronger and less subjective to bending than the previous casing.

Improved Camera

These are some of the oldest and most reliable rumors. Months ago we learned that Apple acquired LinX an impressive camera module maker. These modules can produce DSLR quality photos in a form factor that would fit inside, well, an iPhone 6S. Rumors state that the rear-facing camera will be bumped up to 12 megapixels while the front-facing camera will be upgraded to an impressive 5 megapixels.

Enhanced Touch ID

There will also be major improvements to the fingerprint scanner that will produce faster and more accurate readings. This coincides with the Apple Pay experience, which is dependent on the Touch ID fingerprint scanner. For iOS users, the update will help ensure that Apple Pay readings are quick, easy, and secure.

Even Faster Performance

Multiple sources have stated that the iPhone 6S will be released with Apple’s new A9 processor and will be receiving a bump in RAM from 1 GB to 2 GB. Other sources stated that iPhone 6S prototype GeekBench scores were leaked to the public, proving impressive scores that exceed the iPhone 6 by a long shot. However, John Poole, a developer at GeekBench, essentially squashed these rumors stating that the GeekBench scores were faked. Whether the scores were faked or not, we can guaranteed the iPhone 6S will blow the 6 out of the water in terms of performance, as Apple is turning the heat up due to strong competition from Samsung.
