W hen you are investing in a new iPhone, you want to know that the latest model surpasses its predecessor in every way. Currently the iPhone 8 Plus has the longest battery life of any iPhone on record, according to Tom's Guide. But have you ever wondered how your iPhone stacks up against other generations? Continue reading to see where your iPhone ranks!
8 iPhone 6
The renowned iPhone 6, the iPhone that suffered the most from deteriorating battery life, was only able to muster about 7 hours and 30 minutes of heavy usage. Launched in 2014, this was Apple’s first attempt at a large-screen iPhone and the first model to fully support Apple Pay.
7 iPhone SE
The iPhone SE was Apple’s attempt to offer a smaller screen after going big with the iPhone 6 and 6s. It featured a 4-inch screen while retaining similar features as the 6s. The iPhone SE’s battery life however, did improve over the iPhone 6 by lasting 9 hours and 27 minutes of heavy usage.
6 iPhone 5s
The first iPhone to include Apple’s Touch ID, the iPhone 5s held 10 hours of battery life. This was the last iPhone, not counting the SE, that featured a smaller screen. Right after the iPhone SE, Apple went large screen and never looked back, well sort of.
5 iPhone X
While still considered the best iPhone, Apple’s 10th anniversary iPhone X holds 11 hours and 45 minutes of battery life, a full two hours below the top dog, the iPhone 8 Plus. Yet, the iPhone X is the standard over which the next generation of iPhones will be measured up against.
4 iPhone 7
Taking it back a few generations, the iPhone 7 held a solid 12 hours of battery life. Maintaining similar characteristics of the iPhone 6s, the iPhone 7 got rid of the headphone jack and was water resistant.
3 iPhone 7 Plus
Similar to its 2016 companion, the iPhone 7 Plus holds about 12 hours of battery life while adding a larger screen and dual camera lenses.
2 iPhone 8
While it should come to no surprise that the basic iPhone 8 trails the 8 Plus, it's only a mere 15 minutes of difference between the two. Considering they are basically carbon copies of each other, save for a few upgrades on the 8 Plus, it makes perfect sense this model ranks this high on the list with 13 hours and 30 minutes of battery life.
1 iPhone 8 Plus
Though some consider the iPhone 8 Plus the second best iPhone you can purchase, it currently holds the longest battery life on record with 13 hours and 45 minutes, putting on top of the mountain above all other models. Long live the king!
