The Apple TV was just released last week, but its users are already being treated to the first tvOS update from Apple.
tvOS 9.0.1 was released this morning, and is available via an over-the-air update. While most users will likely receive the update automatically, it can be manually downloaded through the Settings app by navigating to System, then Software Updates.
The update comes almost a week after Apple released the tvOS 9.1 beta to developers. The 9.1 beta update does include some exciting new features, including WiFi connectivity improvements, improved scrolling, and in-app purchases for App Store apps. It was also discovered recently that the 9.1 beta version includes limited Siri support for Apple Music.
Users with the beta release can use Siri to search for Artists, or to play music from the Beats 1 radio station. Siri’s accuracy is a bit spotty in the beta version, and searching for specific tracks is unavailable – it’s obvious that Apple is in the testing phase introducing Siri support, and is still working out the kinks. It’s currently unclear when the official tvOS 9.1 beta version will begin seeding to users.
