COVID-19 may have shut down our schools and our businesses, but it hasn’t put an end to some old-fashioned community service. As it has done in the past, Verizon Wireless Zone stores will be handing out free backpacks to local children who come into their stores.
When Is the Backpack Giveaway?
Mark your calendars as the annual giveaway is scheduled for Sunday, July 26 this year.
The backpacks are available in select stores, so you’ll want to check online or check with your local store before heading out to snag a backpack.
The giveaway will begin at 1 PM and lasts until 4 PM, or when all the packs are given away. Stores will have a select number of backpacks, and customers cannot reserve the packs in advance.
They are available on a first-come, first-served basis. In previous years, the packs were claimed very quickly.
Each backpack is stuffed full of school supplies and is given away with no strings attached. Parents and kids don’t have to purchase anything or sign up for service to receive the packs. They have to come into the store when the packs are still available.
At some stores, the pack giveaway has a fair-like feel with face painting, crafts, and are organized by other local businesses and non-profit organizations.
