Apple Releases a ‘Reasons to Upgrade’ Tool for iPhones

Apple

Apple recently launched a new online tool called Reasons to Upgrade that it hopes will convince more folks to upgrade to the new iPhone 15.

Apple’s goal is for you to “see what you’re missing” by sticking with an older iPhone model. The new tool only works for 2019 and 2020 iPhone models, specifically the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max.

It allows customers to easily compare these to any of the new iPhone 15 models, presenting the information in a more informative way than a mere spec sheet.

Unfortunately, if your current iPhone isn’t on this list but you’re still thinking of upgrading, you’ll have to visit Apple’s standard Compare iPhone Models page for the more traditional line-by-line comparison.

Let’s say you have an iPhone 12 and want to upgrade to the iPhone 15. The first information you’ll see is the value of your potential trade-in. For the iPhone 12, that’s up to $220, although it doesn’t tell you the price of the iPhone 15, which starts at $799.

Next up, you’ll see some real-world explanations of the difference in features between the two models, including screen quality, storage capacity, camera zoom, video quality, connectivity, and design. For example, the iPhone 15 has 4x the resolution of the iPhone 12, 2x more storage, 2x more zoom, performs 40% faster, and includes Dynamic Island and a USB-C port.

Is it convincing? Try for yourself to find out. It’s certainly more personalized and does a great job of spotlighting the iPhone 15’s key features that most users care about. It pairs specs and features with compelling visuals. Apple’s more traditional comparison tool focuses only on specs, but it’s far more detailed and allows the user to compare three models rather than two.

Have you been thinking about an upgrade? If so, the new Reasons to Upgrade page is a great place to start. The tool most effectively reassures you Apple is the “best place to buy iPhone” by reminding you about the trade in program, interest free Apple Card, carrier deals, and delivery and pick-up options. I have an iPhone 13 Pro that’s served me well for two years and is still going strong. Now, I want to upgrade!
