Now that the Home button is gone from the iPhone X, Apple has changed the way users can perform common tasks that once depended on it. Features such as screenshots, App Switcher, Siri, force restart and many more now work differently on the new iPhone.

Luckily, it’s still easy to access Siri on iPhone X without the Home button and there are a couple of ways to do it. You can either use the ‘Hey Siri’ command to activate Siri or use a physical button.

In this tutorial, we’ll show you the two different ways of accessing Siri on iPhone X.

Use the Side Button

  1. The Side button, aka Power Button, replaces the Home button in iPhone X when it comes to using Siri. It is located on the right side of iPhone X, just like the previous models of iPhone.

  2. To activate Siri, press and hold the Side button for a couple of seconds until the Siri screen is displayed. Now you can speak to Siri or type a command to get a reply.

  3. Once you’re done with Siri, you can close it by swiping up from the bottom of the screen or pressing the Side button.

  4. Apart from activating Siri, the Side button on iPhone X can do a lot more things such as force restart your iPhone, take a screenshot, power off and much more.

Use the "Hey Siri" Voice Command

  1. You can also access Siri by using the “Hey Siri” voice command, which is much faster and more convenient than using the Side button. Before you can take advantage of this feature, you’ll first have to enable it. First open the Settings app on your iPhone.

  2. Go to Siri & Search.

  3. Toggle on Listen for “Hey Siri”.

  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to set up “Hey Siri”.

  5. Now that you’ve enabled this feature, you can say the phrase “Hey Siri” to activate Siri and speak to it. Note: this feature works only when Low Power Mode is disabled.

These are the two different ways of enabling Siri on iPhone X without the Home button.

Siri is capable of doing a lot of tasks on your iPhone, such as setting up an alarm, searching for something on the web, creating reminders, reading your latest emails, and much more. If you’re in a place where you can’t speak to Siri, then you can take advantage of the Type to Siri feature which allows you to type your questions and have them answered by Siri.
